“Just perfect!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

We planned a girls' weekend in the Hunter Valley and booked one of The Grange's 2 bedroom cottages. It was absolutely lovely, each bedroom had a separate bathroom and there was an open kitchen-dining-living area with a big table, 2 comfy sofas and lots of light. The cottage was very clean and well-kept, sheets, towels etc. all provided as well as a cook-your-own breakfast with eggs and bacon, toast, oj, yummy fruit salad, coffee, tea, milk - all you need - as well as beautiful home-grown roses in a small vase. We had both a front porch and a barbeque area out the back, so plenty of outside space. We enjoyed the good location in the valley but even more the parkland and just generally being out of the city in such a pretty location. We also had car trouble going up from Sydney and can't praise our hosts enough for the very generous and uncomplicated help!! We will definitely be backand hope to be greeted again not only by Chris and Ken but also their very friendly and well-behaved lab Xena!
PS: We went on an all-day trip with the Hunter Valley Boutique Wine Tours and can clearly recommend them, as well - our guide Brian was very knowledgeable but at the same time nicely low-key and picked some special wineries for us.

Spent 2 nights at the Grange and really enjoyed our stay. The 2 bedroom cottages are very spacious, clean and ideal for 2 couples, The cottages have fully equipped kitchens and are very clean. Breakfast ingredients are provided and is certainly sufficient with Bacon & fresh eggs ready to cook yourselves as well as a selection of Breakfast cereals provided The cottages are set on 28 acres of land and are fairly secluded from the main tourist spots, We especially liked the log fire which really warmed us up on a fairly chilly night. All logs provided.
Would certainly recommend to any after a quiet stay in the Hunter.

Room Tip: The 2 bedroom cottages are perfect for 2 couples as the rooms are located either end of the cottage...

We stayed two nights for our tenth wedding anniversary. The room was great, the location was beautiful, and the staff were very friendly, including Xena the family Labrador, who will greet you when you arrive.
Breakfast was provided which was good. Not the buffet you may get at Crowne Plaza, but enough to get you started for the day.
I would recommend this place to my friends and we will stay there again.

Up to the Hunter for a family birthday weekend. Booked a King Spa room at the Grange and would find it hard to fault.

Fabulous hosts, great room and facilities and perfectly located to explore the delights of The Hunter. And a fabulous welcome every time from Xena the wonderdog :)

Will definately return and can highly recommend it for a rural escape.

Lovely room, very well catered for and hospitable hosts. Healthy breakfast ready to feed a small army and even when things didn't go to plan (they hadn't left towels) they were on to it in a flash. Thouroughly recommended.

A homely and peaceful retreat in the heart of Hunter Valley. And what a way to welcome guests - as we were driving in, an adorable black Labrador came up to greet us :)
Chris is such a lovely lady! She gave us such warm welcome, and took time to explain the highlights of Hunter Valley to us, suggest activities to do and places to dine. The sticky date cake she baked for us was a thoughtful and tasty gesture too :)
Our cottage was extremely spacious and comfortable. Love it to bits! The kitchenette was generously stocked with brekkie cereals, bread, juice, milk, tea and coffee, yoghurt, fruit salad..more than enough for two people!
We told Chris that we were thinking of doing some cycling, and she so graciously got the bicycles ready for us. Much thanks to Ken for ensuring the tyres were well pumped - we missed meeting Ken though.

I must give a big shout out to Xena. As a dog lover, it is so heartwarming to open your door in the morning and find Xena coming over, tail wagging and as happy as can be. Even when we returned in the evenings from dinner, Xena will pop over just to say "hey" :)

Our heartfelt thanks to Chris, Ken and Xena for a memorable stay.
The Grange at Hermitage is THE place to go to in Hunter Valley!

I recently stayed at The Grange on Hermitage with my partner & was so happy with my choice of accommodation. We booked the queen room, attached to the main building(house), which was fabulous. The room was immaculate, with a lovely bed, kitchenette, a spa bath & a nice little area at the front of the room with a table & chairs to sit & relax, have a glass of wine or enjoy breakfast.

The breakfast supplied was lovely & I really loved the concept of eating your breakfast in your own time, not having to make sure you're out of bed at a certain time so you didn't miss out!

The location of The Grange on Hermitage was great, with a short walk (to the right, just under 1km) to a brewery on one side of the road & on the other a restaurant/bar & another restaurant, both attached to the Tuscany Wine Estate.
To the left was a winery which we rode the borrowed bikes to for wine tasting.

The owners are both very lovely people, who appeared to genuinely care about their guests.

I highly recommend this place & without a doubt will return to stay very soon.
