My friend and I stayed at Willow Tree Estate for two nights.
With lovely grounds, a beautiful room and a very warm and gracious hostess the stay was truly enjoyable. We chose to grab some cheeses from the smelly cheese shop and have our dinner (cheese and wine) on the balcony over looking the beautiful view.
The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean and had a lovely little touch of "country luxury" to them.
The continental breakfast provided a plentiful selection and will definitely tide you over to lunch. The location is great , being right in the middle of Pokolbin ... two minutes from the hunter gardens and plenty of wineries to keep you busy.
I would absolutely recommend a visit and am thinking of taking my partner there where we head to the area next time.
We stayed in the summer house suite, was absolutely wonderful. Completely private, great spa bath and a lovely bottle of wine for when we arrived. Great location for wine, beer and food. I hope we can come back soon!
We stayed with Raylee for one night and we have to say it was lovely. Raylee was very welcoming providing us with a hunter valley map and suggestions on where to eat and visit for tours and the complimentary bottle of wine went down very well whilst skyping our friends from the pool - making them all very jealous!
The Chianti room was very spacious with a massive king size bed and single bed, tv, balchony over looking the pool, large bathroom with shower and lovely shampoos.
Breakfast in the morning was a lovely continental one, that offered all kinds of cereals, dried fruits, yogurts, nuts, toast tea/coffee and crumpets my favourite!
We Will definitely stay again if back in the area. Thanks for you generosity Raylee.
We stayed at Willow Tree Estate in the Hunter Valley, NSW, for only one night on 30th December 2014. I wish we’d had more time there because it was absolutely perfect.
The Hunter Valley is beautiful and awash with wine tasting estates, restaurants etc.. Lots of places to visit, within easy reach - like the Hunter Valley Gardens – a complex of gardens, shops, restaurants. We didn’t have time to see the gardens, unfortunately – will have to revisit!
Willow Tree estate is a family run property, with Raylee Keleher masterminding everything. It is a stunning place, lots of land to walk around, with plenty of places to sit and just enjoy the view of the dam and the surrounding vineyards. The lovely pool was a very welcome bonus.
There are 9 or 10 rooms (I think) all with an individual theme - ours was Paris and France. So much nicer than a carbon copy hotel room that could be anywhere in the world. Our large room was upstairs at the front of the property, with air conditioning, a large modern bathroom, balcony and outstanding views. We felt thoroughly spoilt.
Raylee is so friendly and welcoming , with plenty of tips and suggestions about where to go in the valley. We were doing a wine tour in the afternoon and she was able to check us in early so that we could be ready for our pick-up. (The wine tour was with Two Fat Blokes – brilliant fun – I recommend their half-day hunter valley snapshot tour.)
Breakfast was continental, with plenty to choose from – fruit, cereals, muffins, eggs with fresh coffee and tea selection. There was also bottled water, tea and coffee in our room and a gift of a bottle of wine and chocolates too!
Because we knew we wouldn’t be able to drive anywhere for dinner that night I was concerned that we’d have a problem getting somewhere to eat. We needn’t have worried. There are restaurant shuttles you can book. However, we ate at the Tuscany Estate next door – a 1 minute drive or a 10 minute leisurely stroll on a quiet road, past the vineyards. Tuscany have an upmarket restaurant and another, less formal one – Brokenback BBQ and Tapas Bar - where we were able to cook our own steaks and watch the sun set from the veranda. A lovely evening. There is plenty of hotel-type accommodation around the valley, but Willow Tree Estate is just such a special place, stay there. You’ll be glad you did!
A spur of the moment decision led us to take a Saturday night away in the wineries. Much of the accommodation in the Hunter does not allow a one night stay at weekends so we were pleased to find Willow Tree Estate. We have stayed many times in the wineries but never in this area. We found this a very relaxing and charming property. The views from our verandah were superb. The room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool as it was a very warm day and we felt at home due to the very relaxed and welcome by Raylee.
If you are wanting to get away from the hustle of the city life then this would be a good start! There was some noise in the late evening from an adjacent premises ( a wedding reception was in full swing) but this was not unduly intrusive. Sound travels a long way in this wonderful area.I Recommend this accommodation.
We booked to stay at the Willow Tree Estate as we were coming to the Hunter Valley for a concert. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived by how stunning the property was and the view from our balcony was just incredible. As it was scorching hot when we arrived we had a dip in the pool. Raylene was beyond accommodating and despite having an issue with our air conditioning she went above and beyond to have it fixed and ensure we were comfortable. We would highly recommend staying at Willow Tree for a peaceful, romantic getaway.
The location was great and on a very pretty property with a lake and ducks and kangaroos. Quiet location but still very close to many wineries. The summer house spa room we stayed in was completely sepperate from the main building which made it very private. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A hot breakfast option would a great idea, just as a suggestion :)
