We've been to HV several times now, and we always visit the gardens. Though things don't change that much around here, the gardens never fail to disappoint -they have special displays depending on the season. A very peaceful place in a lovely wine country.

Very attractive little village with small interesting shops. Several cafes with good variety of food . Gardens are beautiful too. We'll worth a visit.

I have been to the gardens on a number of occasions and each time it has been a delight, the gardens are always well maintained and very pretty. At different times of the year they have special events, such as the Christmas season, they have a Christmas lights display, which is really spectacular, another time was a dinosaur show and both children and adults enjoyed this.
The atmosphere is relaxed and you can wander around at your own pace or just sit on the grass and take in the beauty of the surrounds. This is an attraction for all ages, from little children to the elderly.

We'd visited the Hunter Valley Gardens a year or so ago when it was the venue for a family wedding reception and were very impressed by the high standard of the gardens then and so were delighted to have the opportunity to visit once again, this time to experience their amazing Christmas Light Spectacular.

The evening light show commenced at 7.30pm and the staff suggested we first walk around the gardens in the fading light then walk around again when all was dark and the trees had disappeared into the night, allowing the lights to come to life and tell their own story.

There are also a couple of stage shows for the kids, commencing at around 6.30pm plus food and drink stalls on site for a casual dinner under the stars.

Be sure to take you camera so you can capture and take home some of the magic of the evening, I was lucky to get some fantastic photos showing the contrast of the lights against the sunset sky.

My only regret is that a large portion of the gardens are closed of an evening so I still have much to explore, guess I'll just have to go back another time to see the rest. What a shame (not)!

The gardens are really beautiful, quirky, laid out well, much fun if you take your kids as there is Humpty Dumpty etc. 2007 I think was in grip of big drought so not so great that year but this is Australia, land of extremes. If the season is right it is something to behold when in bloom and there are quite a lot of shops and restaurants to try while in that area.
