A very nice service and the staff very helpful. The rooms are wonderful. It's not too far from other Wineries and considering the location, Hunter Valley, the prices was not bad either. A reasonable stay. Light breakfast was arrange nicely, and I enjoyed the stay.

We stayed in the loft style apartment last month, large space for 2 people and it was very spacious, clean, comfortable with lovely views of garden. Heater provided for the winter months and good sized kitchen so really liked it there.

The cooked brekkie that can be purchased was lovely and we cooked our own then another morning.

The gardens are very large and if it was a bit warmer we could have sat out on the patio for breakfast.

The owner was a gem, Marie, who was very very helpful. It was my partner’s bday and we prearranged to have a few gifts waiting – wine, balloon and cake. They were all set up when we walked in – such a lovely touch.

It’s a short drive to the wineries and if having a few then the shuttle bus / taxi is always an option and not too expensive. Got great recom for food – Leaves and fishes and restaurant botanica, they were 20mins out and maybe somewhere closer would have been better but the food was delish and well worth it. Went to Blaxland before and this provides a shuttle bus service and it is lovely and Shaky Tables got some great reviews from other ppl.

Would recommend this place to anyone and loved our stay there.

My fiance and I stayed here on 6 July 2012. We had traveled to the Hunter Valley for the Chocolate Festival. As we were traveling with our 6 month old twins, we wanted to find a place where crying babies wouldn't disrupt the other guests, and so a cabin was the goal. We booked into this location via Lastminute.com.au. My fiance spoke with Marie, who sounded very accommodating, and despite difficulty finding a place to stay at for that weekend, we were booked in without any problems at $250 per night (other places were charging over $600/night) (even with the twins).

Upon arrival, we were taken to a room, which unfortunately, for the other guests, shared a common wall. Given our last minute booking, we were unable to secure a cabin, as we had originally thought. The rooms are very much motel-style, made to look like cabins. Very pleasant and clean, but very basic.

Pros: comfortable double bed (certainly not the best i've ever slept in, but not the worst either), ample towels provided, tea/coffee facilities, quiet location, friendly hostess, VERY comfortable single beds x2, single cot provided (at short notice), efficient heating system, breakfast provided (at additional cost).

Cons: no bath, uneven flooring (we were told due to water damage), which made it difficult walking on it, especially carrying a baby, sharing of common wall (i was under the impression that Elfin Hill had only cabins - my fiance found another place which had only cabins, but i wanted to go to Elfin Hill due to its name!) in a motel-style room (i was mortified for our neighbours as our son, who is normally placid, had a particularly bad night crying and didn't get to sleep until about 11pm), for food (we arrived at Elfin Hill at about 8pm) we had to drive to Cessnock (about 10 mins away).

Overall, a pleasant location to stay at. Despite Marie's hospitality (which at times was slightly intrusive - after a 5 hour drive we really just wanted to change clothes, unpack and settle the kids) and lovely location, i wouldn't suggest this location for couples with children (regardless of whether you are with babies, toddlers or young children), as the 4 or 5 rooms are all next door to each other, and you are painfully aware of the noise potentially disturbing other guests. More a place for people without children, or older couples on a weekend away.

I stayed with two friends at Elfin Hill for the long weekend in June. Even before arriving we were greeted with wonderful service, and this continued throughout our stay. Marie makes Elfin Hill feel like a home away from home. She not only made us feel welcome for the duration of our stay but helped us plan our activities throughout the weekend by recommending wine tours, transport and places to visit.

The rooms were very clean and tidy, with fluffy doonas, great heating and a real country feel. Breakfast was wonderful - a big selection! It was delivered to our room each morning so that we had the option of where to eat, which was a nice touch.

I also thought it was great value for money - especially when factoring in breakfast, service and location. The location is worth mentioning as we actually rode bikes to nearby wineries which was a nice option to have.

We look forward to returning to Elfin Hill in the future.
