“dont forget to visit when going thru Parkes”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

This is one of the many places to visit when coming thru Parkes or just visiting Parkes for the day. This is a great place to just check out yesteryear from the motor care era.
It is worth visiting and you just have to see it to believe it.....

“Amazing collection”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

Had to visit as we were in Parkes for the Elvis Festival. Some of our friends who had been there before thought that the collection was smaller than previous years, I still thought it was well worth the visit. So much original merch. My daughter took some convincing that it was actually Elvis's original marriage certificate in the case. The attached 'old things' museum is also interesting and included in the entry price. Has free wifi - our accommodation didn't!

“A central location for information, history and special interest”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

The Henry Parkes Centre consists of a number of "museums", all rolled together in to one place.

Most importantly, it's a central location for information on the area, along with activities, places to eat, etc. But it also consists of the following:

The King's Castle: A collection of genuine Elvis artefacts - the largest in the Southern Hemisphere
Parkes Motor Museum: A small collection of rare and classic motor vehicles
Henry Parkes Museum: A wonderful collection of historical items from the area, from the last 160 years of so
Antique Machinery: A wonderful collection of numerous farm machinery, as well as traction engines, rail memorabilia, etc.

It may be that you only need to stop in for a few minutes to ask directions, but if you're interested in ANY of the above, you can easily spend a few hours wandering through the numerous exhibitions. Other than the machinery, everything is housed indoors, so is perfect for a wet weather day.
