“perfect for a group getaway”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stayed at the Black Sheep Inn with extended family for my son's wedding. It was the perfect place for a group to stay. The old wool shed has been converted into a welcoming and interesting place to stay.

There were 5 bedrooms, some with a queen and single bed and all bedrooms had en suites. But the really great part of the Black sheep inn are the communal areas. In the main area there is a huge glass topped table, that used to be the wool sorting table, and each day our lovely hostess Helen would serve us a 3 course breakfast that was absolutely yummy and our family had a great time talking and catching up over our scrumptious breakfast.

There are two sitting areas, one with a gorgeous old fire place and very cosy, plus the wool shed is full of history and interesting bits and pieces from the wool shearing days. There was lots of room for our whole family to spread out and relax.

The Inn is only 5 minutes out of orange and set in beautiful countryside.

Helen was a wonderful hostess and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend
staying here.

Had my sons wedding in Orange and needed a place to stay for all the family .

We found the Black Sheep Inn , a converted 100 year old shearing shed . WOW !!!

From the time we arrived we were looked after by Helen our great host , the rooms were big and all had ensuites , 2 lounge areas with a fireplace and a central dinning area with a 14 seat table .

We all had a great stay and defiantly will be coming back .

Well done , " Black Sheep Inn "

I stayed at the Black Sheep Inn recently and I cannot say enough good things about the Inn and Helen's hospitality. In the lead up to the stay she was incredibly helpful with local advice via phone and email and was always perfectly lovely and attentive. The Inn itself was just wonderful, an old sheep shed transformed into beautiful homely accommodation. A lot of the interior was kept which gave it a unique look. The rooms were perfectly sized, the ensuites were everything you could need and the food was wonderful. Helen should definitely look into Masterchef. I do not photograph food like a lot of people do, however on the second morning I couldn't let the gorgeous and delicious meals be forgotten! Thanks to Helen and the Black Sheep Inn our weekend in Orange was perfect. Couldn't recommend a better place to stay if you are going to Orange. It was about 5 minutes drive out of town, easily driven and signposted.

A delightfully enchanting couple of nights, made more special because of Helen's warm hospitality, and sharing the breakfast table with scintillating company provided by fellow guests. The transition from shearing to shed to accomodation is sheer brilliance with the old shearing stands and shutes, the original wool press, inspirational use of lighting, aged timber floors, the old wool classing table transformed into a spectacular dining table, all wonderful reminders of days gone by. Juxtapose this with modern creature comforts like luscious mohair blankets, L'Occitane products in the ensuite, imported teas, chocolate biscuits, scrummy breakfasts, the latest mags, the warming glow of the fire and a return journey becomes a must. Soon! Lastly, don't forget to tap into Helen's encyclopaedic knowledge of the area. She knows it all!

The Black Sheep Inn was the perfect set-up for five couples who like to get together every year. We had the place to ourselves and the spacious layout allowed us all to relax comfortably. The bedrooms and en suites were top quality as was the breakfast. Helen was very helpful with local advice and ran the B&B in a quiet, friendly, professional manner. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are well laid out, all had a queen/king bed and single except for one which was generally...

We stayed two nights in the Whispering Moon Cottage and it was even better than expected. No detail is overlooked - from the fridge stocked with everything you need for a gourmet breakfast, to an absolutely spotless bathroom. Whilst this old shearers cottage has been modified, it retains much of it's charm with open fireplace and wooden floors. Helen is a delightful host who is wonderfully helpful without being intrusive. The perfect place for a cozy winter getaway - we'll be back!

This is truly a fabulous place to stay. Helen is an excellent host with a warm friendly approach. She has an great eye for detail and it shows in and around the Black Sheep Inn. Warm and comfy with large communal areas or little private alcoves. Lovely bedrooms with top class en suites. The breakfast was akin to a high class restaurant or hotel. Picturesque setting and a stones throw to some of the best vineyards and orchards in Orange. It was an interesting experience for my Canadian cousins who enjoyed seeing a bit of Australian history up close and thought that staying in a renovated shearing shed was great. You must try it.
