We occupied The Magistrate's house in mid October 2012 on a long weekend during Winefest. We were 5 couples and filled the pleasant Bed and Breakfast in central Orange. It was walking distnace to the main street with all the shops and restaurants, on a wide road.
Our room was quiet, clean and included an ensuite with full bath and even a small fridge.
We had access to the lounge room in the evenings which worked well for the get togethers after dinner.
I did not like the bath tub that you had to climb into for a shower. The water temperature was not easy to control, a mixer tap would have been a better alternative.
Breakfast was plentifull: usual cereals with fruit and eggs/bacon/tomato/mushrooms also offered.
The hostess was very helpful and very pleasant.
There was limited parking at the back of the property but plenty, though timed during the day, outside.
Many restaurants were within easy walking dstance.

Room Tip: The Rose room appeared the largest but also at the front, with potential for increased noise. We sta...

I have had the absolute good fortune of staying at Cotehele for two nights. Having never stayed at a bed & breakfast, this wonderful place has completely changed my attitude. Large comfortable clean rooms with generous ensuite and complimentary toiletries. Marie is a lovely host and prepares the most amazing breakfast leaving you wishing brekkie could be like this every morning. Only a couple of blocks back from the main street this gem of a place is the perfect place to base yourself when in Orange. As for the supposed noise factor, sorry what noise? Just a beautiful tranquil place. Now my preferred choice for future trips to Orange.

My wife and I have stayed here twice, once in the house and once in the "stables". Both were comfy and well-appointed. The whole house is beautiful and open for all guests, with music, magazines and complimentary port in the lounge room. The garden is lovely and breakfast, which is excellent, can be had outside if weather permits.

Contrary to another review here, there were absolutely no noise issues and the owner's nice little dog did not yap! This is not a party house, its ideal for couples. Its a quiet, refined atmosphere and you are basically staying in someone's lovely private house. The owner, Marie and her granddaughter were absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome; nothing was too much trouble. The location is also very convenient, one short block to the main drag (Summer Street).

But the best thing about Cothele is the price. At $160 per night, its a bargain and easily as good or better than many places we have stayed that cost twice as much. This is a good, honest B&B, well presented, well serviced and well priced.

Referred to Cotehele by our host at WInter-Rose Cottage B&B in Bathurst we were lucky to get the last room. What a beautiful house and so close to Orange's CBD we arrived at lunch time and checked right in. Parking our car in the grounds and walking to all local attractions. The room was comfortable and the bathroom big. The breakfast next morning was fabulous. We didn't want to leave. Accom is tight in Orange so book early for Cotehele.

Having booked the Stables at the Magestrates House, due to the fact we are light sleepers and from the reviews, we were assured it was quite. How absoutely appalling to arrive and be told that the room was not available because it had been given to a "regular" who was staying for the week. We had been allocated another room at the front of the house. This meant all people staying in the property had to walk past our room, the room was on the street, not to mention a resident yapping dog.
We said no thank you, as the owner asked if we wanted to look at the room. No thank you, that is not the room we booked, hopefully this is not the norm for Orange hospitality. For us it was a wasted trip, not to mention we did not get to try the restaurant next door, one of the reasons for our trip. We were so disappointed that we turned around and returned to Canberra.

My husband and I were looking for something a little different from the normal run of the mill style motel style accommodation. We certainly found it with this lovely B&B in Orange. We were fortunate enough to get "The Stables" room which was at the rear of the property. We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable, and the room was immaculate, with lovely 'extra' touches, including a spa bath. The service was wonderful, the privacy was beautiful and the surroundings and garden all made for a much enjoyed night away. We were a pleasant walk away from some great restaurants so the choice was ours. Off street parking at the rear gave peace of mind. We had a wonderful nights sleep, and shared a sensational breakfast of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast and a fully cooked breakfast with the other guests, which was a lovely touch. Great value and money well spent.
All in all - a fantastic experience and one we will be repeating! Totally enjoyable and highly recommended for those looking at staying in the Orange region!
