“Something for everyone”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014

Blackbutt is a place on our regular visits list, there are playgrounds for the different age groups, fields, walking tracks and of course the animals. There are regular activities conducted from time to time, displays, reptile handling etc. The grandkids mostly enjoy spotting the kangaroos and emus. For me, there is a park run every Sat. It's not for the feint hearted. Apart from the parking, its all free.

“Worth the time to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

This bush oasis in the heart of Newcastle is an excellent venue for tourists to this marvellous steel city. Forget the 3 hour trip to Sydney to see Australian wildlife up close. The council operated exhibits are walk through (with full disability access) and get people very close to native wallabies, wombats, koalas and birdlife. You can also be part of a koala experience her you get to hold a furry little darling as well.
Apart from the wildlife, there are lovely sealed bush walks through rainforest remnants and thick bushland.
Toilet and picnic facilities are on site as well as a small coffee shop/kiosk.

Highly recommended.

Great day out for the whole family. Great picnic area and okay area. So much work done over the years. It's a shame now council charge for parking.
