I retired this year, after 20 years of service and understandably my colleagues, friends and myself wanted to mark the occasion with a retirement party and when we looked around for an affordable option we found Bluewater Pizza, which offers a $26.95 per person party menu, which includes a selection of crusts, salads and a selection of wood-fired pizzas. An additional $5 gets you a margarita.
So on February 16th, a booked party of about 30 arrived to celebrate. Some of the guests didn't come, but there were also a few "gatecrashers". Numbers varied during the night, with some early departures and late arrivals.
The food arrived fairly irregularly and was not well paced, but the staff were available and not intrusive, which is exactly what one wants at a party.
Many restaurants struggle with large parties, but this restaurant seemed to cope well.
Food was OK and plentiful, but not spectacular, as one expects set menus to be- but the pizza was certainly much better than the average Pizza Hut, Domino's or Eagle Boy. There are better pizza available in Newcastle, although few places offer a waterfont dine-in option and this suited the evening perfectly. There is also easy access to nearby establishments for before and after dinner drinks, which for my colleagues seems to be essential.
A great time was had by all, with a casual relaxed evening, aided by the venue and its associated features.
Thanks to Bluewater Pizza for making my retirement party an enjoyable experience!
