We stayed at the Everton apartments as we were attending a wedding in the area, so we chose to make newcastle our base for our first week. If going into newcastle, we found it easier to walk due to parking costs & restrictions, but made use of having the car for large food shops & running wedding errands too! There is also a free bus zone, so we took advantage of that. If you either google it or go to the newcastle tourism pages, there should be a link for the latest bus routes etc. and if you are out & about u can watch for the free wifi signs (on the pavement!!) in town. The apartments are 20-30 mins drive from the airport & a fairly straightforward route too.
The accommodation was lovely & we are glad we chose it!
Located along a quiet residential street, the 2 bedroom house also has it's own driveway & garage (we were able to fit our small hire car in, but it might be a tad snug for larger cars). There is a large open plan living/dining area & plush kitchen (the only thing we could find 'fault' with was a lack of Tupperware type containers to store food stuff in (there were only 2), but we made do with a saucer/plate & some cling film instead. A utility room (with laundry appliances) leads out to a small but functional courtyard, which at times allowed us to sit outdoors in the shade! There is also a downstairs toilet.
Upstairs (1 flight, bannister rail left side ascending, skirting board level lighting), is the bathroom, & 2 bedrooms. The good sized bathroom consists of a separate shower cubicle & bath (& a good shower too!). The master bedroom also has a walk in wardrobe & desk space, the 2nd bedroom has a sliding door wardrobe. After we had booked, we received an email requesting our preference for bedding set up. Essentially, there are 4 single beds in situ, so they can arrange them into twin/double configuration.
Nearly forgot to mention the master bedroom also has a balcony which sits at the front of the house. We made use of this for breakfasts & to watch the world go by before it got too hot!
Air conditioning unit downstairs with 2 fans upstairs. Strategic use of the window blinds during the day or when we went out helped to keep the place nice & cool! Wi fi available too (no extra cost).
We had a super stay at the Everton apartments & would definitely recommend them!

very clean and well maintained complex, nice fixtures and very spacious units. Very handy to all amenities but still in very quiet surroundings. Garage for vehicle. Manager helped us out in a snap as we needed to stay another 2 nights with about an hours notice and the manager made it all happen with a very reasonable price, would recommend this complex to anyone.

We had a wonderful time at Everton Apartments, they were lovely apartments and kept very neat and tidy. They had all the facilities we needed without being to close or too far to the city. Laurel was wonderful assistance and made checking in and out extremely easy after our big drive down from Brisbane. Would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a very comfortable self contained stay, peace and quiet and very affordable.

We rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with another couple and overall the experience was good. It appears that the building has been recently finished, comfortably furnished and in good condition but the bad points below kept out overall rating down; I would like to give it a very good rating, but the issues kept my rating at average.

Good points:
It is in a nice quiet area only a short drive to the city (if one needs to go there), the riverside area or the beaches. We ate out a couple of nights and it is only a short 10-15 min walk to Beaumont St which contains quite a range of cafes and restaurants to suit most tastes. We also had breakfast and one dinner in the apartment which has a reasonably well equipped kitchen that was good to use (more on this below).

Bad points:
The worst issue for us was some dirty cutlery, plates and saucepan in the kitchen. This made us wash all the items we wanted to use which is not good for the price they charge. Otherwise the apartment was quite clean. Other issues were a full cigarette tray on the table in the courtyard, every bedroom and bathroom door had squeaky hinges which were loud in the quite of the night and the garage was very tight for all but very small cars. We also booked for two double bedrooms, but one bedroom had two single beds.

One comment on Newcastle – accommodation seems overpriced, but Everton apartments less so.
We stayed in Newcastle, not by choice, but for a specific reason for an event. When trying to book accommodation, I thought something must be wrong as most places seemed quite expensive for a regional town. Even the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom serviced apartments that I use periodically in the centre of Melbourne CBD were more expensive in Newcastle and the quality of these apartments on par with Melbourne.

Room Tip: Ensure your bedding requirements are clearly understood when booking.
