very clean and well maintained complex, nice fixtures and very spacious units. Very handy to all amenities but still in very quiet surroundings. Garage for vehicle. Manager helped us out in a snap as we needed to stay another 2 nights with about an hours notice and the manager made it all happen with a very reasonable price, would recommend this complex to anyone.

We had a wonderful time at Everton Apartments, they were lovely apartments and kept very neat and tidy. They had all the facilities we needed without being to close or too far to the city. Laurel was wonderful assistance and made checking in and out extremely easy after our big drive down from Brisbane. Would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a very comfortable self contained stay, peace and quiet and very affordable.

We rented a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with another couple and overall the experience was good. It appears that the building has been recently finished, comfortably furnished and in good condition but the bad points below kept out overall rating down; I would like to give it a very good rating, but the issues kept my rating at average.

Good points:
It is in a nice quiet area only a short drive to the city (if one needs to go there), the riverside area or the beaches. We ate out a couple of nights and it is only a short 10-15 min walk to Beaumont St which contains quite a range of cafes and restaurants to suit most tastes. We also had breakfast and one dinner in the apartment which has a reasonably well equipped kitchen that was good to use (more on this below).

Bad points:
The worst issue for us was some dirty cutlery, plates and saucepan in the kitchen. This made us wash all the items we wanted to use which is not good for the price they charge. Otherwise the apartment was quite clean. Other issues were a full cigarette tray on the table in the courtyard, every bedroom and bathroom door had squeaky hinges which were loud in the quite of the night and the garage was very tight for all but very small cars. We also booked for two double bedrooms, but one bedroom had two single beds.

One comment on Newcastle – accommodation seems overpriced, but Everton apartments less so.
We stayed in Newcastle, not by choice, but for a specific reason for an event. When trying to book accommodation, I thought something must be wrong as most places seemed quite expensive for a regional town. Even the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom serviced apartments that I use periodically in the centre of Melbourne CBD were more expensive in Newcastle and the quality of these apartments on par with Melbourne.

Room Tip: Ensure your bedding requirements are clearly understood when booking.

This is a really good place to spend a few days in Newcastle. The major attractions are:

Location - It's in a quiet residential street, and a central location. It's not "next to" anything, but is pretty close to everything provided you have a car.

Size and amenities - it has large rooms, a good kitchen and all mod cons. The garage is too small for most cars, but we had no trouble parking on the street.

Fit-out - the apartment is quite new (in 2013) so almost everything was in perfect condition. The downside was that it did not have the usual store of little-used kitchen items that build up over time, like salt and pepper.

Owners - the owners/managers could not have been nicer. We extended our stay by a day and they were friendly and efficient.

The disadvantages are few and small:

Garage - hard (but not impossible) to access for a medium sized car or bigger

Cost - we were lucky enough to get a very good rate on Wotif (the owners said it was a slip-up, but they honoured it). At $350 per night it would not be great value

Clock radio - it flashed 12:00 all weekend because I could not work out (or find out) how to reset it...

Hi SanMarco2,

Thank-you for writing our first review on Tripadvisor! It was a pleasure to read your well-balanced and detailed feedback. We will check the unit you stayed in for that clock radio and have it replaced with something more "user-friendly". As for the cost, it's always best to call us directly and we will gladly match, or beat any rate you find online. You've made a very good point about items such as salt and pepper in the kitchen, thank-you for bringing this to our attention. Sometimes the little things get overlooked and a "fresh eye" on the units always helps us to improve on our services for future guests.

Thank-you for staying with us at Everton Apartments. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Newcastle.

Kind Regards,

Graham Turner
Manager
