The Lock-Up is well worth visiting if you are interested in criminal history. Changing art exhibitions are displayed here, within a central gallery, and sometimes throughout the building itself. My favourite feature are the cells, and especially an original 19th century padded cell.

They hold small exhibitions Small entry fee sometimes other times donation. This is a good space for local artists to display their works, selling many while on exhibition. The history of the building is worth a look, and of course in the eastern part of Newcastle there is some wonderful architecture including the Post Office (in bad disrepair sadly due to our government.)
The bank buildings, other heritage buildings which some have been converted to apartments.
