This is a great beach in town that you can take your dogs down to to run around and enjoy the ocean. There is free parking at this beach which is great considering nearly everywhere in town is ticketed parking.

Having this beach in the harbour is terrific for holding regattas and stopping for a stretch before paddling back up the harbour but it gets pretty crowded in summer and because it is highly trafficked it's not the cleanest of beaches. Nice and safe and protected from the sea breezes though. Great spot to launch the outrigger to paddle out the heads.

Doesn't seem as bad on weekdays, but there are to many irresponsible dog owners that can't control their dogs. Witnessed a dog attach last week. A girl with 2 large american staffys attacked a small poodle and bit the poodles owner. The girl had absolutely no control over the dogs and should not have had them off lead at the beach. i would recommend red head beach to take your dog as there is much more room

Great beach for dogs and very popular with the locals. Located near the breakwall and Nobbys Beach. One of a few designated dog beaches in the area. I am sure your dog will enjoy the calm waters and you the lovely scenery.

We visited horseshoe beach for the first time today... And had a BLAST!

It was definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive in rush hour! The beach was incredibly clean (with all owners cleaning up after their dogs), and all the visitors (both two and four-legged) were super friendly; one person even lent us their tennis ball to play with when we realised we forgot ours!

Tigger played with all sorts of other dogs... From chihuahuas to a bull Arab and all sorts of mixed breeds!
Just seeing the different breeds was fun! All the dogs were friendly and happy-go-lucky, and not a single growl was heard even though there were 20+ dogs playing together.

The trip was definitely worth the 1.5 hour drive from the hunter Valley, and I hope to visit at least a couple times a month.

After running around for an hour, and then walking around the foreshore, my puppy was super happy, yet beyond exhausted!

It's a great place to not only socialise your dog, but teach them different commands too! (We really focused on calling our puppy back to us when he got more than 10
Metres away... As it was his first time interacting with other dogs and people).

Highly recommend this beach! Just make sure to bring doggy bags and a towel or two!

:)
