We often park in the free parking area outside the baths and never fail to admire the beautiful facade of the entrance. It is an icon of Newcastle's past and present. The baths themselves are a great spot to swim or just enjoy the safety of the enclosed area for children. The facilities provide adequately for a day at the baths.

What a great asset for Newcastle. Plenty of space and hot showers! All so close to trains, buses, cafes and the city centre. The only concern is the open gutter/drain along where you sit - it had some disgusting looking things in it and didn't look like it had been cleaned out for a while.

Years ago this was the only baths that were available to school kids to swim, so in the school holidays it was always packed and it was also the only place to hold swimming carnivals - its always fresh seawater in it and during rough seas, people will stand or hangon at the most eastern part and try to get washed into the baths, lots of fun for some but very dangerous for others, but still a great place for a safe swim.

Hitoric baths with original cement blocks, the amenties leave a lot to be desired although local council has spent large amounts of money. The small pool at the side of the baths is wonderful for small children. There is a kiosk to enjoy hot chips which you can share with the plentiful seagulls. Take hat sunscreen and a book to relax. Many a famous person is spotted at these baths so take you glasses also

The only other ocean baths i've visited is Bondi Iceburgs - and in comparison - Newcastle rules hands-down. The water is pristine, and reasonably warm. There is also an adjacent bath which is much more shallow, catering for younger children. Definitely worth while visiting just to unwind and chill.
