Visited for a 75th birthday celebration. Had read the poor reviews - but the guest of honour loves lobster so thought that we'd take a chance . . . The rerstaurant was not that busy - but we found the service to be generally good - the waiter was helpful. The menu was a bit of a disappointment for a seafood place - The mixed platter we chose for 2 was $145 - but only half a lobster, and then a limited amount of selection and quantity other seafood ie 2 of each additional piece. The presentation was good - but somehow it missed the mark. Overall - not a bad night - but over priced for the quality/quantity. Wine List average at best and no cocktails.

Does not compare equally with say Nick's seafood at King St Warf in Sydney - where for $80 per head you get half a lobster each and a more generous selection of hot and cold seafood. Have also visited Scratchley's and Mangrove Jacks - who are both in a different league.

Please, please, please stay away from this house of horrors. There is absolutely nothing good about this restaurant unless you a desperate for a laugh, because that's what you'll end up doing due to the service and the food (the service is worse than the food and that's a big call). It's like something out of Fawlty Towers only a factor of 10 worse. Don't say you weren't warned. Believe everything you read in all of the TA reviews (and some of them were being kind).

The owner spent most of the evening arguing with his staff and hovering over their shoulder. The service was bad but they tried their best and I imagine this is symptomatic of a micromanaging boss who invests little in training. The restaurant fitout was cheap, particularly the dining chairs. A $46 'platter' comprised two mussels, two oysters, two scallops, half a bug, half a cray fish, a prawn and some fries, none of which was cooked or presented with any finesse. A $14 chocolate cake dessert (priced as $12 on a fellow diner's menu) was a slice of dry mud cake drizzled with Cottee's topping. Never again.

Never again, service is appalling. Firstly we were ignored three times while waiting at the front of the restaurant to be seated. Had to ask twice for our order to be taken and then for side plates and cutlery. Each time we were made to feel like we were being an inconvenience. The restaurant wasn't even busy. The owner is very aggressive towards customers so I hate to think how he treats his staff. The food was very average also.

We called past on NYE in the hopes of a free table, despite there being free tables outside that clearly weren't "reserved" , we were advised "other diners might want to sit outside at 8pm". so we were ushered to a strangely placed table down a side hallway. the order was taken quickly , with entrees & mains being served within 30mins of us being there, the owner & what appeared to be his wife were highly confusing taking drinks that weren't finished & the overall feeling was that we were being rushed to finish up & leave. our meal was nice enough , strangely there was no lemon served with the calamari or the salmon main. although nice enough the meals were still overpriced as it certainly wasn't a fine dining experience.
upon leaving & requesting the bill, a cockroach ran across the floor.
can't say I would go back in a hurry.
