“Great location in Newcastle”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Stayed here for a girls weekend away and very happy with the hotel. Very clean, great location, close to restaurants, bars and has lovely boardwalk running along the front and around the harbor. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Only downside was as we had 3 in our room (which was booked) we needed to use the fold out sofa. At midnight we tried to get the bed out as it hadn't been pulled out but we couldn't do it so when I called reception they knew of the problem straight away and sent someone up with something like a crow bar to get the bed out. We paid extra for using the sofa bed however we had to get it out and make it. Pity they don't anticipate the crow bar is needed and advise at check in.
Other than this it was a lovely stay and would definitely stay here again when in Newcastle.

From the moment I opened the car door as I arrived to the time I checked out the staff were attentive and pleasant. I had dinner in the restaurant both nights and the food was superb. The beds and pillows are so comfortable just wonderful. If you end up on the water side of the hotel, you can watch the activities of a working harbour. Right on the boardwalk.

We recently stayed here over Australia Day long weekend. After reading reviews on tripadvisor we booked a harbour view room & included brekky, we were so happy we did both, the buffet is great with anything you can think of there & harbour view room is a must, it is great looking out over the working harbour. The only thing that I could possibly say that we weren't 100% happy with was the parking situation it is expensive & inconvenient, we parked on the street on occasion near the hotel & hhis was also quite expensive.

The staff were kind helpful and went beyond the call. We had booked online at The Jesmond Executive Villas and were absolutely disgusted with every aspect of the place and had been misled by the write up online along with the photos. The staff at the Crowne were very nice and gave us free Champagne and upgraded our room at no cost and went out of there way to make our stay enjoyable. We couldn't find anything to complain about and could not praise the staff more. We will be staying here again for sure.

Recently stayed for 2 nights for business, everything you need for a work trip and more. Rooms are nice and big, separate bedroom and lounge/kitchen area is great, plus a desk to get some work done. The winner for me was the location in the honeysuckle marina area; heaps of food and drink options in easy walking distance - squires maiden was the highlight of the places we ate.
All in all a great stay, get the valet parking price down and it would be faultless.

I stayed for two weekend nights with my sister. I only booked 2 days beforehand but the rate was reasonable and everything was as requested. The staff were friendly and relaxed -- very Newcastle! I was unable to book a harbour view room but, when we arrived, we were in one. Watching the harbour -- birds, boats big and small, people passing, fishermen -- was mesmerising.
The room was spacious and made use of the view despite the lack of a balcony. The windows could be opened for fresh air. Nice bathroom with good products.
Breakfast was a standout with a great selection and a "home mad" feel. It felt like going out for breakfast rather than staying in a hotel. Good view from the restaurant.
I loved the pool and pool area, and the proximity to bars, restaurants, beaches and good walks.
A great up-market option in Newcastle -- a much under-estimated city!

Room Tip: Harbour view all the way
