The rooms are very small and old , bed was uncomfortable. Not worth what you paid for.
Would not stay there again.

IbisNewcastleGM, General Manager at Ibis Newcastle, responded to this reviewResponded July 30, 2012

Dear Soapiiz,

Thank you for telling us about your stay in Newcastle.

I am sorry to hear that your stay did not turn out as you would have expected it to be. As an ibis hotel we are a standard accommodation provider with all the hotel standards you'd expect from an economy hotel. The Novotel Newcastle Beach offers a more superior product and we are more than happy to assist you if you need to make any booking arrangements with the hotel.

Kind Regards

Thomas Klotz
General Manager

We found this hotel very good. It was very clean and the staff where helpful. The only bad thing was the pillows, which were very uncomfortable. We went for Groovin the Moo festival so the hotel was booked out. If i was to stay in newcastle again i would stay in East newcastle only because it is closer to the restaurant wharf strip & the beach. There was not much near Ibis, however it was right by a train station so was very easy to get around.

The Ibis Hotel in Newcastle is well located, within walking distance of nice restaurants and shops. As has been mentioned here, the immediate surrounds are pretty run down, but it’s not a long walk to find some nicer areas. Wickham Station is just around the corner.
My room was very comfortable and a decent size. The bed was comfortable, the desk was actually big enough to work at, and the wardrobe is well designed. All the usual amenities are included. The bathroom was new and clean. All in all an excellent hotel room. Sleep quality was great – the train line passes behind the hotel, but the trains are quiet and they don’t run all night.
Inside the entrance is a restaurant offering breakfast and dinner. The place seemed comfortable enough. There was a “Discover Newcastle” terminal in the reception too – a touch screen unit that supplies information for tourists – an excellent idea.

Great for the disabled, good location as its close the restaurant strip. It's a run down area of Newcastle but the staff were friendly but you feel safe in it. It is a comfortable room, good bed, nice facilities in room. Fridge is a bit noisy and air con can be. We stayed on bottom floor near front road, surprisingly not much traffic noise but there was plenty of people walking by making loud sounds. As you can imagine, you don't get much sleep. Overall, it was fine for a one night stay, nothing more. The breaky was great! $15 per person on a special, worth every dollar.

Room Tip: Don't get bottom floor near road, too much noise.
