“well worth a visit!”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

Run by enthusiastic volunteers who doubled as the tourist information centre. Interesting historically, and full of info about the many shipwrecks which happened until a huge breakwater was built.

“Juliet Clydesdale”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

I am Juliet Clydesdale (facebook). I took people for rides on the last festivalI . when I pull my Carriage through Morpeth it’s a vision from the past and the clip clop of my massive feet is an echo from days gone by.

“Maritime History by the sea”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

The Newcastle Maritime Centre is a small museum on the waterfront in the Honeysuckle precinct. It is quite close to Civic station and the free city bus passes close by. The museum appears to be in a rennovated dock building.

The centre has a number of displays on the maritime history of Newcastle, including interesting displays on various ship wrecks and mishaps that have occured over the years. It has some interactive displays on Port Hunter and historical information on the 1950's "Maitland Floods". The centre has a small gift shop.

I would recommend visiting the museum as part of a visit to the Honeysuckle precinct. There are quite a few restaurants close by. Combining this with visits to the other attractions close by would be a good idea
