Stockton Beach Holiday Park

We camped here for two nights over the Easter long weekend in 2013. Not being a keen camper, I was a little worried about the whole experience but looking back now - it was fantastic!

Firstly, the location is great. Away from the hussle and bussle of Newcastle but only a few minutes away by ferry should you wish to go out for dinner, movies, shopping etc. You can really park your car when you arrive and not use it again until you go home.

The park facilities are secure, clean and very well maintained. The toilets and showers were clean at all times and the roomy showers were a positive change from the other parks I've stayed. There is also a pin number on the toilet blocks - to keep out non-park guests.

The beach location is great - loved the walk along the pier every night.

Given we were camping, we used the "Campers Kitchen" every meal time. The facilities here are great - sinks to wash up, fridges, bbqs, microwaves, kettles and there is also two areas in case one becomes to busy (which wasn't an issue during our stay).

What really put me at peace of mind was that the park was "locked down" after a certain time and access was only via the front entrance where a security guard was located. This gave me great peace of mind.

Overall, I think Stockton Beach Holiday Park would be great for anyone -friends, family and couples.

Just to add - the park doesn't have its own pool facilities but the local council pool is literally next door and we were provided free passes to this pool if we wanted to use it.

Not far out of Sydney and a world away from everything.

We camped here over Easter long weekend and found the facilities at the park very clean and well maintained. Stockton beach is at its door step and you can also go fishing on the breakwall. Very convenient location to explore the area or just chill out.

The sound of the waves lapping on the beach at night makes it that much more special.

We were booked in to a powered grass site opposite the new cabins for 10 nights, with our 22ft van. We live locally and wanted a holiday feel while my husband could still go to work. The sites in this section are large and grassy. The weather was fabulous for early Autumn and we made the very most of the beach, breakwall walks, ferry ride over to Newcastle for wining, dining and shopping. Large amenities block was cleaned regularly and the laudry room was equally as big. The higher price tag reflects your proximity to the beach and other premium activites. We are heading back in January and look forward to seeing the staff again who were really helpful and welcoming.

Even though it was NSW school holidays, Stockton Beach Holiday park met our needs as a great location to visit Newcastle and surrounds. We stayed for a week in a powered site where we spent some days relaxing on the beach; on other days we took the 5 minute ferry trip to Newcastle water front from there we visited the city or caught a train/bus to other areas of interest. Free passes are available from the park office to use the local swimming pool.
The park has two clean, code secured, amenities blocks, a spacious size laundry and friendly staff.

Unfortunately, a phone call was enough to put me off staying at this holiday park, rude and not helpful at all. Also overpriced, two other local hotels although they were full, were friendly and offered advice on alternate accommodation in and around the area. Nice manners are free, I got the impression he didn't want visitors staying there. ???

We just enjoyed a five day camp with our adult children and grandchildren at Stockton Beach Holiday Park. It was the best time. Brought back the memories we had growing up as a youngster camping with our own parents and siblings.
Back to basics of spending quality time with grandkids and watching them enjoy every minute of their holiday. We were testing our new Jayco Swan and had a ball. The facilities are very clean (twice a day) and the camp kitchen is an asset with a big wash up.
There is ample room between sites and you are not on top of one another. Also the fellow campers were friendly and considerate of everyone. The young kids rode their scooters in safety = something they can't do in their own neighbourhood. All four families have booked again for next Easter 2014.
Congratulations to the manager and staff for their attention to detail and running a quality family holiday park. Why travel anywhere else when the beach is at your back door and Newcastle is a five minute ferry trip away??? We'll be back.

We were booked into Stockton Holiday Park for a week but left after 3 nights. Bunkhouse one was very tired and it was also very dirty. I don't expect luxury, it was a reasonably priced but I do expect it to be clean. The fridge was rusty and uncleaned, same as the fan. The floor was unswept and there were two sets of curtains missing. Microwave and bin had't been cleaned. The park itself is in a lovely spot, the showers and toilets pretty clean and tidy, though the communal kitchens are pretty tired too. It's clearly a popular spot, it's just a shame they don't do the updating they need to.
