“Bang!”

Unfortunately, had little time to spend here, but had loads to look at. Lots of volunteers willing to help. Great views over Newcastle etc. Worth a few hours if you,ve got them. Gun is fired at 1pm

“Wonderful historical venue”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

We were recently there for starters, drinks and setting off guns for a convention held in Newcastle.
What a fabulous venue, with such a rich history told with gusto and passion by the volunteers that guide you through the tunnels and around the compound.
It is open during the day and is a must see place if you are visiting Newcastle.
The view over the harbour, ocean and the city of Newcastle is fantastic from this vantage point.
Highly recommended

“What a view”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

Probably one of the best views in Newcastle and the historical aspect is well thought out...volunteers who man the site are very passionate about their roll ...lots for the kids to enjoy as well heading underground....not well publicised but not to be missed

“Fantastic views and a great historical setting”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

We arrived at 10 am in time for the first tour of the day. Walking around the site there are good interpretative signs to give you a sense of how things were and the role fort scratchley played at different times in history. Excellent views out to sea and of newcastle. Would highly recommend the tunnel tour. Cost of the tour is very reasonable. Ours went for 1.5 hours and our guide was very knowledgable. The place has been restored well and it's clear there is more they would love to do. Great to see a group of people, mostly volunteers, so passionate about a place which has a special place in history. A must do while in newcastle.

“history relived!!”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Came by the place in the afternoon just in time for the last tunnel tour . The Guides were very friendly and informative throughout the whole tour . Would definitely recommend this to those interested in historic wars. General admission to the fort is not charged but the tours tickets are cheap and worth the money. The views from atop the fort is just amazing overlooking the sea with the breeze coming in .. its just wonderful !!the tunnel itself features historic war time relics like the ammunition, canon, and its relics are very well maintained to its original form . One of the recommneded tours while you are in Newcastle.
