The history of the fort is really interesting and well worth the visit. The staff are helpful and happy to talk to you about the place, and the views from up top are brilliant.

Check times of opening as they vary. Do not miss this wonderful adventure, the family love to walk through the tunnels, see the canons and only extemely occasionally are these canons fired.
I commend the people who have set up Fort Scratchley. Magnificent plus the views of Newcaste City, the Harbour, ships at sea add to the attraction Do do pay an entry fee

Perhaps not well known place to visit this is an excellent way to spend a few hours. You don't have to be a history buff to enjoy this place. Hands on and interesting. Also very educational about Newcastles place in Australia's history.

A great day can be had here, excellent location and the views. Extremely informative and very enjoyable to visit, a donation to visit, tunnel tours available at an additional cost.

We enjoyed our walk along the promenade to Fort Scratchley. On June 8, 1942 a Japanese sub fired on the fort and guides are now stationed around the fort and share a wealth of information. There is also a helpful video which is housed in a building as you first enter the area. You can walk around and peek in the buildings. The tunnel tour was not available the day we were there. The view of the harbor, gold sand beaches, and the ocean was spectacular from the top of fort. There was no charge to walk around.
