I booked for the location- it was close to a party I travelled to attend. It has everything you need for a one night stay. Not for families, more for couples, friends or singles. Double bed in a basic room. Shared amenities which are very modern and clean. Complimentary (help yourself) continental breakfast. The accommodation is above a pub- which closes at midnight on a Saturday. Located half an hour from Newcastle Airport.

Great spot, staff super friendly and the room we stayed in was tastefully decorated and very clean...as was the rest of the Inn. The food was great except for the very average pork ribs. They came warm...and had obviously been precooked, streamed or even microwaved, as ours had no basting on the underside of the serving and it looked like it had been cooked as described. What the "cook" had obviously done was to whack them out, cover the top side with basting, grill it for 5 and serve...VERY disappointing to say the least. Lacked taste and was tough/chewy....definitely did not fall off the bone.

Online, this pub makes the rooms look roomy - they are very small ! We had a queen room, which had just enough space to walk around three sides of the bed, a small wardrobe and one tiny side table. the room was clean and nice fresh towels provided. They have shared bathrooms which are left very wet and not wiped down between uses. A small and clean kitchen is provided with good facilities with tea and coffee and minimal continental breakfast which you prepare yourself. You have to eat in the kitchen as there is no space in the rooms. The worst part was the noise. Someone on the loud microphone and the thumping of the band go until late at night - It is very noisy, so don't expect to have an early night. They advertise street parking is available, but don't say you might have to park three blocks away as we did. Might be ok for under 30's but not us. Not recommended for the price.

Room Tip: Don't stay here !

Four of us had lunch there today. The meals and the service were fantastic especially the waitress and barman who could both carry a conversation and share a joke, that is they didn't work to a boring script. We will certainly be going back.

We stayed one night when needing accommodation in Newcastle. It is a classic Inn with pub, food and lodging. First, the bad.
Location is not very close to anything. Room is small, shared baths with shower, above the pub so there is noise, but it was not bad (and it was a Saturday night), breakfast was minimal and rationed.
The good. It was very clean and must have been recently refurbished, bed was great, service was excellent. Best of all was the restaurant. I'll write a separate review on it, but suffice to say it is worth staying there just to be at the restaurant!

In a quiet location but walking distance to Merewether Beach and a short drive to Newcastle the rooms and bathrooms have been stylishly re-decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms are not ensuite but three a good ratio of are four bathrooms for eight rooms. The air conditioning is whisper quite (something which can't be said for many more expensive etsablishments). The breakfast room is clean and well appointed. My only suggestion is for management to put a jug and glasses in the rooms.

The pub below has good food but is not ideal for single travellers who like to read while having a drink or meal. Management have clearly given a lot of thought to making the Burwood Inn a desirable place to eat, drink and stay at so perhaps they might have a think about this detail.

I would go back to stay, but if by myself would eat and drink somewhere more congenial for the lone traveller.

Cute place with very friendly staff. Very modern decor, clean, private, quiet. A bit of a walk to get to other things, but I needed something that was tucked away a little bit. I would definitely stay here again.
