Spent an evening here with friends after having received a few recommendations to try it. Bar Petite is as the name suggests a small venue kitted out with grandma's furniture. It provides a comfortable for relaxing with a drink and suited for small groups.
The wine by the glass offerings are a little on the expensive side. Water is self service, unchilled jugs of water in thick rimmed glasses. I don;t think it would hurt to provide a glass of chilled water to a customer paying for food and beverages. There is no table service for food or drinks which I think is a mistake, both in terms of service, and space as there is a bit of a log jam at the bar.
The food was ok, but not memorable or remarkable. Again, irritatingly whilst the food is delivered to you, the kinives, forks and serviettes are not - you have to get up and self service again. If a waiter is delivering food, why not bring everything? If they can't do this, they might as well be operate as an RSL club and just call your number to come up and collect the food. One of our orders was forgotten, which again meant another trip to the bar to chase it up.
Over all a nice concept, but room for improvement, particularly in terms of service provision to paying customers.

Don't miss this one. Like visiting friends only with a better cellar and great food! Also live music and just across from the beach.

A lovely intimate space for adults. Comfy lounge area for quiet drinks. A small space dedicated to dining. Lovely live guitarist playing in the background added to the ambience.
Has a relatively new chef. We ordered from the small plates menu - potato croquettes (divine); onion rings (crunchy); sliders (yummy); prawns in tomato sauce (delish). Everything was well cooked. Petit fours for dessert and finished with a hot chocolate.
Negatives - service was good but they need more bar and wait staff as there were quite a few people lined up at the bar; dessert took quite awhile to come - approx 10 mins (after already waiting at least 10 mins) after we were told they were being plated; had to laugh 'cos only 2 mini tarts with a handful of micro herbs (what the???) on the plate could not have taken 20 mins to plate! Prawns needed to come with a spoon or more bread to mop up the delish sauce (nit picking). Hot chocolate came in a long glass with a tiny spoon - couldn't stir the drink. Halfway thru our meal 2 couples arrived with their . . . . . . babies in strollers! So NOT the place. Luckily by the time both babies started crying we were almost ready to leave.
For a French looking and sounding restaurant, I'd like to see some French inspired dishes. At the very least, in the middle of Winter, a soup would hit the spot (a great french Onion Soup recipe is needed). And a 'proper' dessert menu needs to be added. Also a promotion for the upcoming Bastille Day would be good.
Am looking forward to trying the Sunday Roast. At $20 with a glass of wine it looks to be good value.
This is probably our 4th to 6th visit. Always enjoy the food, drinks and atmosphere.

Had a group of people there and food came out with large gaps inbetween, no one explained the menu or specials and my "sliders" mini burgers were undercooked.Even though the patty's were lamb and beef you expect a burger to be fully cooked through not rare. Tastest average anyways. Tapa's were ok though the onion rings were too oily and not enough oil was provided with the sourdough. A friend had a steak that cost $35 and said it was horrible. Very overpriced for what you get.Drinks are also pricey. Your better off going to Rustica up the stairs next door. Much better food and service!
Won't be going back to Bar Petite sorry!

Hidden away surprise, offering value light meals to share and special cocktails on weekends. Was a little noisy but not that you couldn't keep up with your conversation in your group. Serving sizes were generous and nicely presented. I would recommend for friends and couples.
