“Consitently good”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

We started going to the Sandbar Cafe about a year ago, and it has become our favourite place to eat in Newcastle for breakfast and dinner.
The food is outstanding and well presented, and the staff are attentive and friendly.
We have also been to 'theme' nights there, the most recent was yesterday, our second Christmas in July' and trivia night.
As usual, the atmosphere, food and service were outstanding.
This place offers family friendly service, and makes everyone feel welcome.
The views are fantastic, though you should always take a shawl or jacket, as it can get a bit cool (though this is a lovely relief on a warm day).
Give it a try - you will be pleasantly surprised.

“New fashioned food with old-fashioned hospitality”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

We went to Sandbar for a ladies only family lunch and were absolutely stunned by the menu, the service and the location. We were treated like royalty and the owner found the time to come and discuss the menu before and after we were served. The food was sensational. We had the plates selection and enjoyed every morsel so much that we decided to have the dessert plate too. I haven't had a restaurant experience like this in a long time. The owner even came to open the door for us when we left. Vive good old-fashioned hospitality! Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!

“Small but sound”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

Great informal place to catch up with friends. A little noisy later at night but that adds to the atmosphere. Menu is small but quality, wine list similar but BYO is an option!

“Go!”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

This place is the best restaurant in Newcastle.

It rates amongst my top 10 generally. To qualify, Ive lived in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and I've visited most of Italy, France and England. I dine every night on holidays and about 3 times a week otherwise.

Have have have the ravioli. It's truly brilliant. The wine list has good variety and the service is personal and friendly. The view is unbeatable. I just came back from sorrento and sandbar outdoes any place i went to therein terms of food, service and view. Don't miss it.
