“Overrated but Acceptable”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2008

Our family group consisting of 3 adults and 2 children reserved two rooms over the Easter weekend paying sky-high rates for fairly basic accommodation. The double room for two adults consisted of one queen size bed and one pull-out sofa ($180 per night, no breakfast) whilst the larger family suite consisted of one queen, one sofa bed and two single beds and a small kitchenette ($230 per night, no breakfast included). The motel is ranked 4 ½ stars but perhaps motel rankings are not as stringent as hotel rankings as this property did not compare to any 4 ½ hotel I have stayed at recently. The motel is relatively new and has about 40 rooms in a double storey building. Cars park directly outside the doors of the rooms which means you will hear people unloading and chatting whenever they arrive. Both rooms we reserved had good firm beds, a fridge, tea/coffee facilities, air-conditioning, and a raised spa bath overlooking beautiful bush land. On the negative side there was almost nowhere to store clothes, only a smallish TV with terrible reception and spartan décor. Furthermore I was disappointed to discover that all toiletries were administered in a no-name pump dispenser fixed to the walls rather than in individual bottles that most Spa Resorts provide. As we were unlucky enough to be on the ground floor, we were also subject to trampling overhead at all hours and squealing plumbing. No tableware or cutlery was provided in the kitchenette. The basic continental breakfast on offer was $14 – we decided to drive to the Rich River Country Club for only $8.50 or $5.50 a child as both properties offered only cereal, bread, tea/coffee and tinned fruit. On a positive note, the pool area was lovely, set in lush gardens, and the indoor spas and steam room were relaxing. Service was efficient and the rooms were clean. The motel is situated close to the quiet main street in Moama and in walking distance to a brand new Safeway store. It’s only 5 minutes by car to quaint Echuca with its wonderful restaurants and historical ambience. I would recommend this property for those that enjoy swimming and indulging themselves in (overpriced) treatments. My kids absolutely loved the (unheated, cold) pool and the atmosphere was friendly at all times.

  • Liked — Beautiful bush views and landscaping around pool
  • Disliked — Noise from upstairs guests, spartan decor, lousy TV reception, overpriced

Extremely DISAPPOINTING. We booked and paid upfront for 3 nights accommodation in a downstairs room. On the second night the people upstairs had their spa on ALL NIGHT. The noise generated by the upstairs spa was so loud that sleep was impossible. Management couldn't have cared less. They refused to move us to a different room and so we left even though we had paid for one more night's accommodation. We will never stay there again. I now know why they insist on payment upfront, which I have never had to do before.

  • Liked — The view of the bush was lovely, which is why I wanted to stay.
  • Disliked — Never stay in a downstairs room. You hear EVERYTHING upstairs!

A very relaxed hotel with a touch of glamour. A great range of drinks and food with good service by the hotel pool with beautiful jacuzzi and hot pool. The steam room was not in the best condition though. The restaurant was faultless but closed Sunday night and Monday lunch. We had an upstairs deluxe spa room (be warned no elevator for getting luggage upstairs) with a spa looking out over the beautiful bushland view.
The room had its drawbacks, the phone was out of order and there was a lack of storage for clothes. Two tiny drawers and 6 coathangers didn't cut it so we lived out of our suitcases, which was not ideal.
Very relaxing and great for couples, those with younger babies and anyone looking to relax. No facilities for toddlers and kids though, more of an adult resort.
A short drive into Echuca with ample motel style parking.

We wanted to goto sleep early at 9.00 however 5 min earlier the above apartment started their spa - this noisely vibrated throughout our entire apartment . The policy of the resort is that they can use the spa until 11.00 at night. We were not informed by Management that the spa could be used until 11.00 and that they would vibrate through our room. After a long and heated discussion with the Manager we were moved to another room that did not have anyone staying above it. We would not stay at this resort again.

  • Liked — Resturant

This was one of the best places I have stayed in. Very clean and even though it is on the main road there was no noise from the road or other guests. The upstairs rooms (there are only two levels) are large and overlook nothing but forest. Each of these rooms has a spa that also overlooks nothing but forest. The rooms also have a gas log fire, couch, small round table and chairs and air conditioning. The bed was also comfortable.
Check the facilities in the downstairs rooms. They are not the same as upstairs.
Guests have use of the indoor pool in the spa section. There is also an outdoor pool however it is not recommended for a swim in the middle of winter when we were there.
The food in the restaurant was what we expected and staff were very friendly. You can even buy a bottle of Grange if the budget stretches that far.
On the down side, our room was not serviced one day however staff were very apologetic and rectified the situation quickly.
I would highly recommend this motel but don't bring the kids.
