This gallery is set in the historic High Street of Maitland. You must divert from the main New England Highway to pass through the old town centre. The gallery has a constantly changing series of exhibition of local through to international artists. It can be re-visited many times. It has a shop full of glassware and jewellery from local makers and a terrific café. It also runs art classes including some for kids in school holidays. I regularly take friends and visitors there.

“Not To Be Missed”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

We never visit Maitland without a visit to this wonderful and stimulating place. And there's a great cafe! The present exhibitions of leadlight glass and photos from the Maitland Mercury of 1963, among others, are alone worth the trip north.

Reviewed November 15, 2013

We have been to this Art Gallery a few times. Its quite average. Nothing too exciting. Does have a room for kids to draw and do activities. Entry is free. Can look around the whole gallery in about 10mins .

“A must visit”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

I am sure all who visit this Gallery will not be disappointed. With great exhibitions, a fantastic gift shop and a great café it is well worth a visit. I love the building with its old and new. It is great that Maitland has such a great Gallery. There is easy parking at the rear of the gallery. I have done a reasonable amount of world travel and I believe the items for sale in the gift shop are as good or better than anywhere I have been. Call in when passing by or visiting Maitland.
