Description: The team that brought you The Gallery Cafe in 2013 are relaunching in the new year as Piccolo Restaurant and Cafe in celebration of their new opening hours including dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. The same fantastic seasonal food and atmosphere enjoyed by party goers over the festive period will now be available in the restaurant every week. The menu will continue to feature fresh, local produce, prepared by chef Murray Challacombe who has trained in some of regional Australia's finest kitchens, including Racine at La Colline and Lolli Redini. Freshly ground local coffee, tea and delicious in-house made cakes are served throughout the day from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday. Join us for a delicious cafe lunch with meals ranging from $8 to $20. Sit beneath the majestic greenery of the courtyard or enjoy the air conditioned comfort of the Prentice House dining room by day and by candlelight at night. On Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm the cafe turns restaurant and chef Murray and his team can really show off their culinary talents. Piccolo's menu changes regularly to showcase local heroes such as Wooli beef, Yamba King Prawns, slow cooked local pork or fresh Clarence Valley berries. Enjoy an unmissable local dining experience with two courses for $40 or three for $50 or join us for a special Lazy Sunday Lunch where we offer our fabulous restaurant menu during the day. Also available for private hire, catering and functions.

There is nothing not to like about this place. Everything is made on the premises - all the sauces and dressings, cakes, biscuits and fudge. The Lazy Sunday lunches are real value and the food true fine dining. Hear they will be open for evening meals soon. Can't wait! At last Grafton will have a quality restaurant using fresh local ingredients at more than reasonable prices. BYO wine. Very talented chef!

“Amazing.............and so cheap”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2014

I could not believe I was getting this standard of food, in Grafton, for these prices. This place is OUTSTANDING!!!!! The cakes are very special indeed. I enjoyed a fantastic meal. I would say this is probably the best find of 2014. I will be back, often!

“Impress your friends with this hidden gem!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2014

We have brought different friends here for lunch or morning coffee on several occasions and they have been impressed: the coffee is excellent, the good choices on the lunchtime menu with superb sorbets and ice creams! I urge work colleagues to give themselves a treat at The Gallery and get great feedback from them afterwards. My favourite dishes over the past year were the terrine, confit of duck, pork belly, Yamba prawns and mango sorbet. On my latest visit I had a delicious gazpacho-just the thing for a warm summer's day.

“Set in a stunning sculptured courtyard”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

The Gallery Cafe is set in a lovely courtyard within the grounds of the Grafton Regional Gallery. With lovely garden sculptures, it makes it a lovely setting for breakfast or lunch. A good venue for a function too. Food is local and fresh.

“dine and view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

The Gallery courtyard is quiet, cool and charming. Or dine with the art in the beautiful gallery itself-the large rooms of a heritage mansion with the current art work on the wall--wander off and take in some culture between courses. Different art at each visit..
The food is very good--excellent, proficient cooking at very good prices. Sunday lazy lunches--3 great courses-- Small but elegant menu. nothing in Grafton compares. its a highlight of our trip to town or our excuse
