We usually head for McDonalds if passing through Goulburn, however a bakery always seems appealing with the smell of baked bread, hot pies and other baked goodies. This large cafeteria-style bakery had all types of food choices to cater for a range of diners either on the go or a leisurely bite.
The décor is rustic and meant to be that way – just as well as its popular being near the Hume H’way. Other choices of hot food can be ordered or a buffet of sorts is offered - they open quite late for a bakery and a good alternative to Macca’s burgers just up the road.
We came around 630pm for just an espresso and a sweetie and to our amazement the coffee was excellent – so McCafe beware! Prices are a little on the high side across the board so don’t think that being a bakery gives too many reasonably priced options. The hot pies, cakes and breads looked and smelled nice and we bought some bread to take home. It tasted wonderful even after sitting there for most of the day.
A lovely, warm fire was burning in the huge fireplace while we drank our coffee and it was a really cosy break before we got back on the road. The restrooms were a bit of a let down and overall the place needed a good clean - it obviously gets busy here. We would come again though based on the Espresso alone and it really did compare well to that other café up the road.
