We are a family with teenagers but the Garden is very child friendly.
On arrival we were greeted by a staff member & his tethered dog.
The children were given a bag of fish food each to feed the HUGE carp.
The garden was beautiful & the kids loved the different types of paths, boardwalks & bridges.
We explored the biodiversity and the sensory garden too.
It was great to get outside as a family & it's FREE. Put this on your to do list in Dubbo.

This was a pleasant surprise in the grounds just behind Orana Mall. It was pleasantly set out with an easy stroll around and through the garden, as usual for Japanese gardens there are bridges over lakes that have the biggest Koi that I have seen. The Sensory Garden is a MUST, rub your fingers on some of the foliage and have a smell..beautiful. The local volunteers are very nice and up for a chat if you are. Also there is a very friendly security guard that likes a chinwag as well.

Dubbo Botanic Garden is a jewel in evolution.
The Shoyoen Garden, reflecting their Sister City relationship with Minokamo in Japan, is well established and carries many of the features we regard as typical of a Japanese garden tea house, Koi pond, water features and pebble garden. And Cherry trees.
Around this have grown a Sensory Garden to relate to the five senses. The moste recent additions are the Biodiversity walk and oasis valley to demonstrate geographical features of the Dubbo region.
It is well worth a visit.

An immaculate few acres maintained by enthusiastic volunteers. Multi level with cascading water, aged carp and great variety of plantings and shrubs. Well worth a couple of hours visit.
