“Very tidy and lovely service”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

We spent two nights here for business and found the room very clean and tidy and exactly what we needed for our trip. Rick and Narelle, the owners were delightful and very welcoming. We will be coming back to Dubbo in 12 months or so, so we'll definitely stay here again.

We spent three nights at the Countryman Motor Inn over Easter, and found it clean and comfortable - minor irritations like the sticky switch on the air conditioning control, and noisy children whose parents allowed them to run up and down early in the morning - but otherwise was not at all noisy. Would have liked a microwave in the room, especially as many restaurants were either closed or charging surcharges, which I object to on principle. Good value, and a very comfy bed - we both managed to sleep in despite the stray children. A short walk into the shopping area and a short drive to the zoo.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 2 nights in August. Neither room had a window which was most unpleasant as we had to rely on airconditioning and had no natural light at all. We were in the units at the back so it was quiet as far as traffic noise.
We ate in one night and the food was very good.
The kitchen and bathroom facilities were also good.
A little out of the main town so you would need a car if you wanted to go out to dinner.
Our room was clean and quite well maintained.

Room Tip: If you like to open your window make sure your room has one!!

Sorry for the delay in your response we purchased the motel in October last year (which I know was after you stayed but since there was no response I thought I would make contact) and we are looking at how we can best serve our clients. We are looking into renovations and have started we would welcome you back to let us know how we are going. Thank you once again. Happy Travelling Regards Rick & Narelle

Had 5 nights here recently, paid for by work , so I cant comment on rates, however the room was clean and serviced daily, the staff were friendly and honest and the Owners were very nice people. They said they had just taken over and were working on improving the business. The food was good and there was plenty of parking available.
There was a bit of town noise but seeing that I live in the country i tend to hear every strange sound. It was an enjoyable stay, the rooms were clean and the bed was GOOD.

The location of this motel was convenient to the Newell Highway. We chose this motel amongst many along Cobra Street. That is the only positive we can say about it. Our room was just acceptable. The bathroom rubbish receptable was full of the previous guests rubbish and we had cockroaches in our bed during the night. Not a pleanant experience. The radio did not work and the airconditioner was noisy. We did not eat there. An overpriced and over rated motel.

This is a rather old review and since it was written the motel has changed hands and undergone substantial upgrading. All units now have LCD TV's, new split air conditioners and some bathroom upgrades. The building has been repainted, the restaurant and bar area have been remodelled. We trust the issues raised in this review no longer apply.

We stayed at this Motel/Hotel between Sydney and Broken Hill. We make this trip regularly as we have family in Broken Hill. We were staying with our two kids - 2 years and 6 months. We stayed here twice, once on the way to Broken Hill and once on the way home. All we were really looking for was a bed. This hotel was pretty disgusting. The rooms are very old (1970's). The aircon is loud, the beds are uncomfortable. On the way out, my parents also stayed here and they had breakfast at the restaurant. This was overpriced, and their weetbix were out of date. They have no microwaves in the rooms and the kettles do not have an automatic turn off, so splutter hot water all over the place until you turn them off. On the way home the room we stayed in, as soon as you turned the lights out TV also went out as well. The room was 140 per night, and you can get a two bedroom apartment for 170 per night - why we did not stay here! I would not recommend this hotel unless you arrived in Dubbo at 11pm, and were leaving town at 7am. The rooms are dark and smelly, the carpet is crusty. Hotel is not recommended.

Firstly, this hotel is no longer Best Western. They left the chain already. Call them and they will confirm this.

I booked my room, but then could not go due to health issue, so had to change my reservation. They did this with no extra charge, so I am very happy and deserve a mention.

I e-mail them to advise that I would not arrive until 1AM, no problem. Turned out it was a family business and I did wake up the host at 1AM to check me in. The front office actually closes at night. So no problem with service again.

The room is where the disappointment came. My room was on the ground floor, right at the carpart. This is not the problem itself. Inside room is brick wall, using very dark bricks unpainted, and to make it worse, there is only a window facing the carpark, the rest of the room is completely sealed. So, no sun light and no fresh air. Am I supposed to open the window and curtain with people walking in and out of the carpark??? I had to switch on the lights even in the middle of the day.

I also found 2 bugs (insects) in a drawer. I reported this the next morning and it was cleaned by the same evening.

They also tried to change for minibar which I never used. This was waived immediately.

Location is off the main road of Dubbo, which is easy to find if you are driving. It is about 15-20 mins walk to town center.

The hosts are nice and location is more than acceptable for a motel, but the room is a real disappointment.
