“We went the Zoo Zoo Zoo how about U U U ?”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

Our stay was very enjoyable. Nice refurbished room upstairs (room 40), clean and spacious. As there were only a few guests staying the cold buffet, tea & coffee was in place but luckily for us the hot buffet was not on. We had our full hot breakfast cooked to order and served on a platter in the restaurant each morning. You can't get any fresher than that! My daughter and I took advantage of the Zoo package which entitled us 2 two nights accommodation, (two single beds in room), a two day Zoo pass and breakfast each morning. Motel is close to Zoo and we had dinner the first night at the Golf club which is an easy short walk and accessible via the rear of the Motel. Very handy and reasonably priced Thai, Chinese and Australian meals. As we were towards the front of the motel and the Newell Highway runs parallel to it, the traffic can at times be busy and the trucks noisy. Not a great problem though as you have to weigh up the closeness to Zoo as well. I am sure you could get a room at the rear of the complex if you requested it.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty sleeping and noise bothers you maybe request a room at the rear of the motel.

Room had been refurbished. It was comfortable and very clean ( and I am fussy!) . It turned out to be a good choice in our journey from Brisbane to Adelaide.
The only down side was that I rang ahead from the car shortly before we got to Dubbo and booked but when we arrived at the hotel the advertised standby rate was less and it included breakfast! Bit disappointing. Overall however this was a good hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. We are glad you found the room was clean together with comfortable beds and that all of your needs were accounted for. In regards to the standby rate, this is for our unrenovated Studio Rooms at the front of the building. We were pleased that we could offer you one of our newly renovated rooms towards the back of the motel. We look forward to your next visit.
Kind regards

This was a great find. Staff were welcoming on arrival. Our room was a Superior room, so it had been recently refurbished. We were on the ground floor & overlooked the golf course. We were far enough back that the truck noise was very minimal. The bed was very comfortable & we were surprised to have had room service during our 2 day stay, which was unexpected as we stayed in Canberra beforehand & had no room service during our 2 day stay there. We had dinner at Club Dubbo, which was just up the road. The buffet was value for money. We visited the Zoo & were very happy with how close this was to our accommodation. We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a Superior Room as these have been recently refurbished.

This was our first stay at the Quality Inn International at Dubbo. What a pleasant surprise. On checking in, the welcome was great, and we were given a small bottle of milk and a newspaper. The room was large with quality fittings and a large king size bed, big modern TV, lovely 2 seater lounge etc. We had dinner in the restaurant. Lovely surroundings, separate bar for pre dinner or after dinner drinks. We both had steak - cooked to perfection, with sauces of choice and freshly cooked vegetables. A GEM in Dubbo. Recommended to all.

Room Tip: Ground level rooms avoid walking up stairs.

This is a solid 3 star motel in the heart of New South Wales. The room we stayed in was basic, spacious and clean. The bathrooms were well serviced with most basic needs. We stayed in a family room that had 2 rooms and a balcony. Our children loved having their own room, own beds and tv! The beds were comfortable enough and we all got a good night's sleep. Extra blankets were thankfully in the room as the autumn weather turned a bit cold while we stayed there. It was also nice to sit out on the balcony which faced away from the main road and looked over the interior of the hotel complex. The motel had ample parking outside most of the rooms.
The motel has free wifi, however the signal strength in our room was virtually non-existant.
The one thing that let the room down was the air conditioning. One of the air conditioners didn't work (knob was missing and it was intentionally unplugged) and the other didn't do it's heating function well. If these air conditioners were replaced with more modern/functional versions the room would have been perfect for us as a family. However it wasn't enough of an inconvenience for us to complain about.

The staff were fabulous and made check in and check out easy. They were happy to answer our questions and offer recommendations for local food choices/restaurants. The servicing of the room was good.
We tried the breakfast buffet one morning around 8.45 am, but unfortunately the staff who seated us didn't inform us the service finished at 9 am (which we hadn't realised) so the left overs available weren't fantastic and I can't rate the food properly because of it. However there was a good selection of cereals, a strange selection of dried/tinned fruits, toast (including gluten-free), scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, etc. I was a little surprised not to see seasonal fresh fruits (eg sliced watermelon) instead of things like dried apricots. A small selection of fresh fruits would certainly enhance and make the buffet choices more appealing to non-local tourists.
The location is literally one road away (but still a drive) from Western Plains Zoo making it incredibly convenient if this is the one place in Dubbo you're planning to go. The motel was right next to the Dubbo Golf Course as well.
It was a short drive (no more than 5 minutes) from the town centre along the main road. As long as you have your own car everything in Dubbo seemed very accessible.

This motel (like almost all the others in Dubbo) is on the main road and we did experience road noise when the bigger trucks rolled past, particularly as we were in a room where the door faced directly onto the road. Thankfully, living in Hong Kong it wasn't a huge deal for us however I suspect this would annoy some people as the noise did drift in from the bathroom windows and under the door.

Overall a basic but functional 3 star motel (with potential to be more), convenient if you want something very close to Western Plains Zoo.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face the main road if possible.

This was our first time in Dubbo or actually anywhere near Dubbo and so we were a little apprehensive as to our accommodations. We were interested in the experience of staying in the Taronga Western Plains Zoo but they were booked. We had a group of 7, 4 adults and 3 children under the age of 7. We called the Quality Inn to make sure there were two rooms available for our little group before we started out on the 5 hour trip from Sydney. When we arrived though we found that our rooms were separated by a driveway and an office. Since this group was my husband and I from America and our son and his family who live here in Sydney it was not appealing. I like my grandchildren to be near and the excitement they get running from our room to their room is quite an experience. We decided that we would just deal with it as it was only two nights. Just as we were getting ready to put our luggage in our room the owner came out and gave us a great solution to our problem. She gave us three rooms right next to each other, one with an adjoining door for the family (kids in a room with twin beds, parents in a room with a king and us next door) and no extra charge. What a sweet thing for us. The rooms were very, very clean. The bathrooms had been remodeled and everything was great. Not only that, the food was excellent. We were just down the street from the entrance to the zoo and could have walked or ridden bikes there if we had wanted to. The service was excellent and it was a very family friendly atmosphere. It was a great trip.

Room Tip: Our rooms were in the very front and it was a bit noisy from the traffic at night. But it didn'...
