“Inconsistency. Will not return”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

Been to the Alfrescos on 3 different occasions - lunch and 2 breakfasts.
- First lunch experience was good. Price was reasonable. Food was average to good. Drinks were so so. The size of serving was decent.
- Second experience was equally good. We waited for a while but the breakfasts were good.
- Third visit to the Alfrescos would also be our final one. There was no service whatsoever, we waited for over 45 minutes for 2 cups of coffee and a sandwich. The cafe was not busy on that day. Many people who came 20-30 minutes after us were served before us. Furthermore, the sandwich was unbelievably small and of poor quality. Worst of all was the hot coffee - it must be one of the very worst coffees I have ever tasted in my entire coffee drinking life. My husband who normally engulfs his coffee in a few minutes did not and could not get through a third of the cup. We both left the coffees untouched. It was simply and very frankly undrinkable...trust me - it WAS that bad.
Some of our friends also commented on the poor service they experienced at the Alfrescos. They walked away before even received their meals.
Despite the first 2 pleasant experiences, we will not be returning given the rather unimaginable inconsistency.

“Huge servings - excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

Recommended by our hosts at the Calendonian B & B.
The food is great but the servings are HUGE.
Recommend you start with the garlic & cheese toast bread and only order on main between two people. Especially if you wish to fit in a dessert!

Stopped by for a late lunch with the family. Full of locals (always a good sign). Extensive menu for all ages. Friendly service. Food and coffees were really good. We'll be back

“Good atmosphere but food very ordinary”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

Dined here on a Friday evening and the place was quite busy. Our entrees were quite nice but I wouldn't have used the tomatoes as they had barely any red colour on them and zero flavour. The risotto served as the main was terrible; very watery and tasteless - I think just water had been used to cook the rice not stock. Fortunately the lasagne was a large serve as we ended up sharing it between us. Kudos to the waitress as she took it upon herself to ensure we were not charged for the risotto which was sent back uneaten.

“Good feed”

Big meals, cooked nicely, at reasonable prices...it was very busy when we went but we didn't have to wait long to be served and our meals came out quickly. Service was great.
