“COMFORT IN THE SILVER CITY”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

Mandy's Grand Guest House in the main street of Broken Hill was an absolute delight. Having stayed in the same hotel many years before, it is as good, if not better, than it ever was. On arrival we were shown to our very large room and dropped our gear to explore the region. Being a little weary on our return we decided to bbq our own dinner and retire early after taking our burnt offerings to eat in the dining room. Other guests came and went during our meal and all were easy to get along with. The bedroom was just so comfortable and well setup that we crashed within minutes. Breakfast the next morning was continental in the same dining room overlooking the main street. A great place to stay - welcoming, very comfortable and just such a relaxing time. Highly recommended to anyone who wants great comfort at a really good price.

This is not an upmarket 5 star accommodation - it is very dated, but clean and a really nice B&B. Communal dining room and lounge are good. Shared bathrooms clean but very old and dated.
Staff helpful and friendly and no pressure - allowed guests to be guests!

like an old boarding house, rooms off one corridor - I stayed with my son for an AFL Carnival and most of the guests at the guesthouse were the footy players with their families. Comfortable & cosy beds, only wash basin in the room and shared bathrooms down the hall, but clean, house bit tired but great atmosphere and Mandy the host made up for everything else. Extremely accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, full run of the kitchen to use ourselves until 6.30pm every day, lovely bits of furniture and knick knacks throughout.
The rooms were all a little bit dark so had to go to the bathrooms to put makeup on but that was fine :)
Always a freshly baked cake in the fridge everyday for the guests
Centrally located on the main street. Would stay there again for sure

Old style accommodation in the main street, parking at rear or in the main street which I preferred as it is out in the open and near the police station. There were 23 steps to haul the case up, don’t think that there was a lift, so be prepared! The owner Mandy was very helpful upon my arrival.

Room was basically furnished but was clean and was a good size at 5m x 5m. The common bathroom was at the end of the corridor, however it appeared as if I was the only guest at this end of the guesthouse so no problem. There was no air-con but a fan seemed to keep me cool considering it had been an extremely hot day of 45C. The tariff of $75/night was much cheaper than other accommodation options in Broken Hill and for 1 night I was happy with what was provided for the price.

Although arriving very late, was welcomed by Mandy, and immediately made to feel at home. Location is great for arrival by train or coach, and right in middle of City. If looking for a healthy lunch, ask Mandy for "lunch special". Continental breakfast selection has everything. Highly recommended.

Just like home. Rooms spotless and loved the pure cotton bed linens. Dining and lounge very welcoming, comfortable, the resident cat Bruce is the final homely touch. Mandy is amazing. For breakfast, every type of cereal, breads, jams and spreads, and at any time of the day or night, a fresh cake is in the fridge. Best roast dinner every Wednesday and nothing is a trouble. Location is right in the centre of Broken Hill activity. Very much looking forward to my next visit.

A home away from home when I am working in the area.

The rooms are excellent and super comfortable, but it is Mandy that is the real asset to the establishment. Nothing is too much, she bends over backwards for everyone, and makes the most AMAZING roast on a Wednesday night with a delicious pudding. She also makes lunch packs to take to work, filled with home baked cakes and muffins amongst other goodies!
