“"Timeless"”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

I love that another poster described The Acropole as "timeless", I too will use this term but to mean stuck in time. The place is something from the 70s and while the wait staff are polite enough they too appear to have been there since it opened. Especially the lady who sits at the cashier - the waitress adds up the bill and hands it to the cashier and you are supposed to know how much it was while she waits for the money.

Food was pretty good, although on the pricey side for what it is. Think Chicken Schnitzel with sauce and chips and then the salad in a bowl on the side (iceberg, cucumber, tomato and coleslaw). Has a daggy feel to it, but does have nice views of the street.

“Old and out dated”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

Old and out dated, owner has returned from Greece after 25 years and he need to serve modern Australian meals not what he was serving when he last managed the cafe. Would not recommend.

“Surprised”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

After my April 2013 review, I thought I would consider a return visit, seeing as I have been loyal to 'The Acropole' for approx. 40 years.
Their milkshakes have always been the very best in Bathurst !
I decided to have a 'take-away' one this time. There were only a few people seated, however, I was surprised the waitress called out 'from a distance' to ask what I wanted !!
When the male owner stepped behind the counter, he totally ignored me (which didn't worry me so much as when he 'snapped' at the Waitress in my presence.).
The milkshake wasn't so nice, & there was a lack of friendliness. So I guess it is 'Goodbye Acropole' for me :(

““A Touch of Greece””

This timeless restaurant located in the centre of town is the perfect place for a breakfast, lunch or late night dinner. Serves delicious food, quick service, friendly wait staff, very reasonable prices.
Loved the Greek music too!

“Great Dining at last in Bathurst NSW for All”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

At last on my frequent visits to Bathurst I can really look forward to a great meal. No more having expensive pseudo "modern cuisine" with bad service and noise. The Acropole has risen from the ashes of the previous owner and is now once again run by the family who ran it so well years ago. They pride themselves on fresh ingredients and made to order cooking - and original family recipes including their famed lemon meringue pie and baked cheesecake - as well as yummy Greek baklava etc.
This visit I brought friends along too and the word is obviously spreading that this is what good food is all about - the restaurant was fairly humming at lunchtime - all ages and types of locals and visitors alike.
The meals are affordable and genuine, there is carpet on the floor so there is a background hum of happy people and no scaping of chairs and loud voices.
It can be as posh or as low key as you yourselves make it - whether for an after sport visit for a milkshake or a barista quality latte or a great occasion dinner.

So on your next trip to or through the Central West town of Bathurst - come and relax at this restaurant right on the main corner of town, and enjoy the unique ambience of the gloriously restored Acropole and it genuine quality meals.
