“GREAT ROOM WITH VIEWS OVER MT PANORAMA CIRCUIT”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2010

Stopover on homeward journey from ski trip. This hotel is located in the midst of Mt Panorama race track. Rooms overlook track. Rooms very modernly decorated and well equipped. Very comfortable bed and temperature (very cold temperatures outside) made for a great night's sleep. Room service for dinner - very promptly delivered and very tasty - good value. Did a drive around the circuit and experienced (at a much slower pace) the climbs and curves of the track. Undercover parking. Great experience!

My husband and I have stayed at the Citigate Mt Panorama twice since it opened late last year. On both occasions we stayed in a Deluxe Studio room with buffet breakfast included. There was a good selection available for breakfast with hot food cooked to order. On our second visit we had dinner at the Chicane Restaurant which was quite good and the service was attentive.

The only negative aspect was the bed was two singles joined together and the seam down the middle was uncomfortable.

My husband is a racing enthusiast so Mt Panorama is a perfect location. Both times he has gone for a early morning walk half way around the track.

Just spent 3 days at Citigate Bathurst. Overall, excellent value for money as it is a new complex among relatively old and tired establishments in Bathurst. Check-in was speedy and courteous. Ample free parking (didn't find it small in any way). We stayed in the Deluxe Studio and found it pleasantly large for a studio. Kind bed with double sofa bed which was thoughtfully open and turned down for our arrival. Not many places bother to do that these days. Kitchen was compact but adequate with new appliances and clean utensils to use. Best part was the spa bath which was new, clean and inviting. Kids loved it! Only problem we had was with the shower. It was too high and sprayed water everywhere except on the body. Shower door did not have a skirting so water tends to leak all over the bathroom floor. But they did provide you with towels so we soaked everything up. We didn't try the food there as we cooked most of our meals (there is a kitchen in your room afterall). However, Bathurst itself has plenty of good cafes and pubs a short 10-minute drive away. In short, we'd definitely come back here and are actually planning to do it soon.

First things first. Yep, it overlooks a racetrack, the view from the hallways is better (if you're not into empty racetracks) but it is what it is, and what it is - isn't at all bad.

The place is very well kept, and for $140 AUD for the night we got. A beautiful room, king sized bed, spa, huge flat screen TV, small but really well appointed quality kitchen (dishwasher, oven, microwave, kettle, cookware etc all good quality) everything about it screamed of a place that was being well maintained, good carpets, curtains and generally good fittings in general. Not only that they've put a lot of nice soft lamps and other features that make the room a very pleasing and relaxing place to be.

Floor to ceiling glass across the entire room with a balcony which is massive but strangely not sectioned off in anyway (i.e anyone from another room could walk out past your room although the sheer nature of the day curtains would obscure you)

The room service is very reasonable, prompt on the weekend we stayed the food was up in no time and was of a high standard.

Front desk were efficienent and happy to extend our check out till 11:30. The one small detractor was the parking spaces for cars was TINY, it really is a squeeze, fortunately when I was there there were plenty of car parks to go around, but if the place was full, I wouldn't want to leave a nice car parked there.

It's about 200km from Sydney so easily drivable in a day and a really nice drive too up through the Blue Mountains. The people of Bathurst are really laid back and friendly and it's a place I'd definitely go to again.

Summary: If you're looking for a weekend away, and you just want a nice quiet weekend and don't mind looking out over an empty racetrack (strangely it's not that bad at all)

anyway...I enjoyed my stay and would go back in a heartbeat.

Unlike the other reviewers I enjoyed my stay at this establishment. I usually stay 5 star in Sydney but whilst visiting friends I choose this place. Take it for what it is, its a country town and I have previously stayed at another place in bathurst (twice the price) and felt that this one was value for money. I travelled with two infants and found the rooms fantastic for us, all rooms come with a pull out sofa and king bed and a huge kitchenette. I did not eat at the location so cannot comment on that. I disagree with previous rating, the rooms were great (its 4 star not 5 star). Overall I would stay again. The staff were fantastic with any request that I had. Its not close to the centre of Bathurst but for a budget holiday stay its great. Only bad thing, terrible TV reception and no DVD players in rooms.

I stayed two nights in this hotel for a business trip. This is a fairly new hotel, but a real eyesore done on the cheap. Noise insulation is minimal and the room decoration borders on tackiness.

You will enjoy the 'view' from the room if you are car racing enthusiast: concrete and asphalt everywhere because you are literally next to the raceway. If you are not in to car racing (my case) it is a concrete nightmare.

The restaurant was really substandard in both food quality and service. It bills itself as a four star hotel, but the food would hardly meet a pub standard. Unfortunately, the hotel is not walking distance from Bathurst city center, so you will need a car or taxi to escape from the hotel restaurant.

A redeeming quality was the fitness center. Business facilities were pretty average. Internet charges are $10 per hour or $20 per day.

Overall, find another place, unless you are racing fan that does not care about anything but having the cars racing just outside the hotel.

My partner and i stayed one night on the 14/03/2010. We picked this hotel as it is advertised as having a heated pool and spa - one of the few hotels in Bathurst which do. To our disappointment, both were ice cold and could not be used. Management informed us that the water is only solar heated which means cold water on winter and overcast days. We paid for an upgrade to a spa studio - $144 a night which is reasonable. The room was large (about 48 sqm), very clean with modern furnishings, a kitchen and comfy king bed. All the rooms on the first three floors (which are the studios) face onto a large common balcony that runs the length of the hotel. This design feature offers no privacy - we often had people and screaming kids walking past our room and consequently, we had to use the spa and sleep with the curtains drawn which is a shame because the view is quite pleasant.

The hotel is located about 4km from the Bathurst CBD and outside of race days, there is nothing to do within walking distance of the hotel. There is a bar and restaurant on site however the prices are steep and the atmosphere depressing - it was like a ghost town for our stay. We caught a cab into town ($30 return) and found there to be ample dining and entertainment options - especially for a Sunday. Check out Dargan’s Irish Pub, good value food with large portions and great live entertainment.

In summary, ok hotel but it would be pointless to stay unless there is a car race on.
