“Never again.....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2011

Never again.....we booked this room online and before booking we confirmed with the
hotel that we could have 4 people in a twin Queen room. Upon booking online the best western website would not allow you to select 4 people and so I rang the hotel asked the lady from the hotel to match visa discount price she couldnt and advised to just book online and it would be ok.

Upon Arriving on Sunday of the long weekend we were greeted by no one at the reception after ringing the bell the Manager (Alan Mifsud) came and it was not a very pleasent greeting.

He asked how many of us and I advised there was 4 and he said the room was only booked for 2. However if I paid him a extra $30 he would give me the room or else I couldnt have it. We were totally trapped he was adament he wouldnt give me the room if I didnt pay the $30. After trying to explain the website was not allowing you to make a booking for 4 people he kept saying I booked for 2 and was lying to him about the website not working.

I even offered to show him on the website but he didnt want to know about it and told me either pay up or I couldn't get the room. We even requested to speak to the lady from the phone but apparently she was on holidays.

Very convenient!!!

He said If I had a problem I was to take it up with Best western Website. I called the number and was asked to call the After hours number where I was connected to Simon Marchent Australian Sales Manager for Best Western. He advised that it was ok for the property to charge me the extra and that $30 was not that much as most properties charge upto $30 per person and was very unhelpful.

As it was a long weekend and we had no where to stay we had to pay the Extra $30 to stay the night even after being accused of Lying.

As for the Room it self it was very old and outdated. Just your normal budget accommodation. But the hole experience gives you a negative feeling about the place.

We were disappointed by this motel. Room was not very clean, the safety lock was broken and the air conditioning didn't work. The motel needs updating to meet Best Western standards.

While on a weekend getaway on the South coast my friends and I were looking for some special for dinner. Fish and chips wrapped in paper can only take you so far. We had been recommended, by 2 of our friends, that we visit the Reef Seafood Restaurant at the Best Western just over the bridge on the right as you enter Batemans Bay.
They were not wrong. Firstly the location is easy and assessable by everybody. Secondly the service was second to non. The staff were pleasant, attentive to every detail. Lastly and most importantly the food. When they say they have king prawns, they have huge king prawns and oysters to die for. Do not despair as there is a great selection of beautiful chicken and Angus beef dish's. Not to forget the great wine selection. All in all the kind of restaurant you would expect to find in a major city........BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

Easy to reach just off the Pacific Highway, we chose this hotel as a stopover on our first night in Australia, driving from Sydney along the coastal route to Melbourne.

The room was unexciting but clean, the bed very comfortable (as advertised), the a/c worked well and service was prompt and efficient, if a bit impersonal.

Wirelss internet is available but at an extra charge.

after staying here when the previous owners were in charge we were a little disapointed, however since the reef has been taken over by new owners recently our family was more than impressed.

immaculent rooms with a stunning veiw, great value for money and excellent service, the seafood restaurant was also one of our many enjoyable experiences and we were given a great room rate in one of the newly refurbished rooms,,,

i would reccomend this venue to anyone from families to elderly couples and corporate guests,,,, or a romantic getaway for 2
we will defenitly be staying here again

  • Liked — everything from accomadation to restaurant service
  • Disliked — there was very little to complain about,,the weather i guess but it is winter lol

We had such high hopes for the motel as we had just read a great review. We stayed in a 3 bedroom town house and at first glance we all thought ok we will give it a chance. By the evening we were all joking about sleeping standing up as the house was dirty, the sofas filthy and there was a smell of damp throughout the house. Spare bedding was rolled up into plastic bags in the back of the cupboard and there was not enough pillows or crokery for the amount of guests per house. Every cup in the cupboard was chipped and the bedding was full of holes, we slept on our beach towels placed on the beds. We were so disappointed as it was a special treat away with the family. We checked out early the next day cutting the holiday short. It could be a great house but needs major updating and a very good clean.

We stayed in a townhouse that was a very nice place.. had a laundry, spa, jetty on the river, garage and a pool. with all the comforts of home.
cost a bit much but still a good place to relax and hang for a while.
only probs were the noisy neighbours at 1.am letting of fireworks and 2 of the seat cushions were not screwed down and oh yeah the light fitting falling of its fixture but other than that we will definatly stay there again next time we are in town.
