“A gem in the Armidale countryside.”

An idyllic cottage in a beautiful and tranquil setting, with fantastic service and very friendly hosts. A substantial home cooked breakfast and adorable pet dog completed the experience. Thank you both for a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We would strongly recommend a walk up the old volcano at sunset.

I have recently returned from my annual stay in Armidale for business and personal reasons. I prefer to stay at Poppy's Cottage because of the very welcoming atmosphere. Both Poppy, Emma and Miffy as well as the Cottage embrace one with warmth and ambience. Following a 1000km drive this is always very much appreciated.
The Cottage with the views on to pasture and trees as well as it's garden setting is all one needs. The coffe/tea and home-made biscuits are just what one needs.
The Cottage provides all I require radio, C.Ds, with an excellent selection of magazines and books. The beds are most comfortable and there is a ready supply of hot water at a good pressure. This is unlike some accommodation sites where pressure is kept to a minimum to conserve water and costs.
I also enjoy being able to walk in a rural setting. I can only hope I am able to continue this journey for many years to come.

We really enjoyed our stay at Poppy's. Its clean, cosy, comfortable and charming.
The hosts Poppy and Jack were very welcoming and helpful.
Poppy provides a wonderful breakfast, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bacon, eggs and toast.
It's a lovely place for a short stay and I look forward to the next time we can stop in there on our travels.

This was our first farm stay, we were made to feel like family, Poppy's greeting us as well as the 2 puppies Emma & Miffy was great! It made us feel at home as we had to leave our dogs at home. The cottage had so many personal touches which made it feel very cosy. The breakfast that was laid on was fit for a King !! We will be returning it will be like visiting old friends.

We had a lovely time at Poppy's. It was so cute, cozy and peaceful. The 3 course meal we had on arrival was delicious. Breakfast was a feast, everything you could think of. YUM. Poppy was a great host, so friendly and lovely. A great place to get away from the everyday and just relax. We will definitely be going back.

All the prior reviews sum it up - even the negative one. It is a home style cottage with loads of generosity built on an pretty basic frame of a small two room out building. What the physical space lacks, Poppy makes up for. There is a sense of warmth, familiarity and family about the place to the point that you forget oversights or minor irritations, if you can.
We had a pleasant stay there; so much better than a motel alternative and, once in your car, the 6kms don't matter and dont take more than a few minutes. And there is nothing attractive about the environs of the motel and alternatives within the town grid.
Poppy gave us really worthwhile recommendations for eating places and natural scenery. If she offers them, take them!

Thank you Poppy for such a wonderful visit. We wish we could have stayed longer and continued to soak up the country air and enjoyed more of your home cooked, home grown breakfasts. Just delicious! You were so welcoming and accommodating, especially with our little girl. We will certainly be recommending your delightful cottage to our friends.
