“Charming and welcoming retreat.”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

The charm of this B&B is matched by the grace and welcome of the owner Deb, when you go through the front door you step back in time to elegance and comfort of yesteryear - good old fashioned hospitality..

Everything about your stay here is perfect, so very well appointed, comfortable, clean, elegant and a sumptious breakfast for the weary traveller or holiday maker. Wireless internet is also available free of charge, an important inclusion in this day and age.

Deb has an eye for detail to be admired and enjoyed by her guests and her tariff is excellent.

Would definitely recommend this B & B to anyone passing through Armidale.

Room Tip: All rooms charming and well appointed, some slightly larger than others.

Huge room in this large Victorian house. Room sold on the virtue of overlooking the park, but that view is not really much to write home about.
Wifi signal a bit haphazard.
Good breakfast. Big comfy bed.
Hosts fine, although tended to be a little impersonal.

Lindsay House really is very charming and the location is quiet. However, the accommodation is overpriced for what you get, especially given breakfast isn't included in the price. While the rooms are beautifully appointed, the bed we had was uncomfortable and the pillows weren't that great. This isn't good if you're on a driving holiday and need a good sleep before tackling the next part of your journey. Our bathroom was old and not entirely clean. There is free wi-fi. There is no air-conditioning. The cancellation policy is 72 hours. I see that a few reviewers enjoyed the company of the resident dog - I can't say I appreciated the dog jumping on me or coming into our room when we first arrived.

We stayed at Lindsay House in a large group and had several rooms. Lindsay house is one of Armidale's oldest homes and has been tastefully maintained with an old world charm about it. When we arrived on Friday afternoon for a weekend stay we were welcomed with open arms by the managers. Later on we enjoyed a nice night cap in the bar before bed.

Our room was upstairs and was large and spacious with its own en-suite which had recently been renovated and had a large shower. Our bed was queen size and was very comfortable with clean, fresh and crisp linen. Our windows looked out onto the park opposite which was lovely.

The breakfast was a simple continental including cereal, yoghurt, fruit and toast with tea/coffee etc.

Lindsay House has an air of romance about it and would be great for couples having an anniversary or special weekend away, particularly in winter with the open fire in some of the rooms.

Stayed in this B&B for one night. It is a very stately house, built about 1917, and has lovely big rooms, high ceilings and many original fittings and antique furniture. Our bedroom (upstairs at the front) was huge, with a 4 poster bed and furnished in traditional materials. Lovely linen. Doona too heavy however and we wrestled with it all night. Bathroom was small with a little basin (which needs re-enamelling) and nowhere to put our things but it did have a huge shower. Deb has been leasing the house for 6 months and was very warm and welcoming. She is hugely enthusiastic about the house and in improving and revamping its many lovely features. The garden needs some attention but the house itself is in good nick. Shame about entering the house via the back gate which isn't a good first impression. The house is just a short walk to restaurants. Our continental breakfast was beautifully presented and varied. All up, we had a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Corner Executive suites upstairs and at the front of the house have lovely views and are very spacio...

I enjoyed three nights at Lindsay House. The House is heritage listed, filled with antiques, and is comfortable. The welcome and service is friendly, warm and sincere.

My executive room was an unexpected very pleasant upgrade. It was large and comfortable with a queen bed, bedside tables and lamps, sofa, dining table, large mirrored wardrobe, large free standing mirror, bar fridge, tea/coffee trolley and a good sized bathroom. Included in the room is a bar fridge (a little erratic in temperature), iron and ironing board, toiletries, good quality linen and furnishings, a television, free wireless internet, good quality tea and coffee with biscuits, chocolates and port. The rate includes use of a sunroom which is equipped with tea and coffee making facilities and magazines. The breakfast room is set for guests with crisp white linen and food is laid out for guests to help themselves. The continental breakfast includes a range of three cereals (muesli/ wheatbix/ cornflakes), tinned peaches or homemade dried fruit compote, delicious natural yoghurt, juices (tomato/orange/apple), croissants/ English muffins/ seeded wholemeal bread/ multigrain bread/ fruit toast, slices of tasty cheese and ham, packages of jams/peanut butter etc, freshly brewed coffee and a range of good quality teas. Ah, it was bliss of having a range of good quality tea and herbal infusions!! (Thank you, Deb!) These delicious teas (and coffee) are also available in rooms and the sun room. (Hooray!)

Non-'executive rooms' are smaller and have the same inclusions.

Deb (the business owner) and her 'business partner' (Peanut a delightful Maltese/poodle) are doing a good job running a very comfortable, friendly B & B.
