Greeting at the reception desk was somewhat lacklustre, but personable enough. Perhaps a little less professional than some other Best Western affiliated properties.

The rooms are quite large and parking is right outside the door and seems to be ample. The room and the bathroom are very clean, but all the fixtures and fittings seem to be rather dated.

A continental breakfast is included in the price. A toaster and crockery resides in an adjacent cupboard awaiting use, next to a mini fridge.

Bathroom amenities were very basic.

Being a visit during a very cold period, it is to be noted that the heating worked very well.

If secured at a very competitive rate, it would definitely not be a bad place to stay but there are better hotel properties in Albury in a similar price range at the time of booking.

Blurb BW Meramie Motor Inn Albury

Nice location, short walk to the CBD, quiet, two story dare I say standard motel units? Good quiet a/c, minimal continental breakfast included that you make yourself in your room with mini-fridge, toaster and the standard hot water heater. Free wi-fi (also CAT5 wired) and off street parking in front of the units…did I say standard motel units? Reasonable value $115AU for two. Even though it is a Best Western the desk said they could not input my Best Western Rewards number. Also the hotel was not on the local tourist map but don’t let that dissuade you…it is fine and we recommend it.

On route to Canberra at Easter, we chose to stay at Albury, to break the trip. The Best Western Meramie Motor Inn proved to be an excellent resting place. It's not on a main highway, so noise from the road is not an issue. It's a short walk to restaurants and clubs, so well situated in the town.

The motel is not new and its exposed brick walls tend to date the rooms. However, the walls serve as excellent soundproofing, which is a bonus for light sleepers. The rooms are generous in size. There is plenty of space for the beds, a table and chairs and couch. Bathrooms have huge showers, too.

Rooms also include a kitchenette, with toaster, microwave, sink etc, plus plenty of bench space.

With a continental breakfast as part of the package, we paid $108, and thought it great value.

Room Tip: The building has two levels. If you don't want to take your luggage upstairs, ask for a room on the ground floor.

We stayed here across Christmas 2011 for four nights. The motel is situated in a residential zone on Kiewa St, one of the main N-S streets through Albury and easily accessed from the Hume Highway. It's pretty quiet here and the motel rooms are set back from the road. Our downstairs room had a double and single bed and was equipped with a microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. The cost was about AU$140 per night which is pretty comparable with other decent chain Australian motels though by US and European standards this is not cheap at all - though this is a general reflection of the high cost of almost everything in Australia. There is a basic continental breakkfast supplied in the room but that wasn't enough for us - we walked down three blocks into Albury to the shopping centre where is a Coles supermarket and stocked up on milk, cereal, yoghurt and decent brown bread, as well as some microwavable meals for lunch - as we were visiting relatives in Wodonga we mostly ate with them so didn't have to suffer the high cost of eating out. In general, expect everything in Australia, apart from petrol, to cost 1.5-2 times as much as in Europe or the US. This partly a reflection of the exchange rate, but only partly.

The room was clean, large and comfortable. Wireless internet is free and unlimited once you are connected. There is a small swimming pool, and for AU$6 you can get access to the laundry which is one domestic sized machine and a drier - so if the place is busy you can expect a long wait.

Generally recommended if you want a quiet, untroubled stay with easy access to the town but without noise or disruption.

Stayed here for a work commitment and got a good rate for mid week stay. The complimentary breakfast in your room was nice, just cereal and bread for toast, but enough. I did have an issue with the air con not working, but luckily the day I arrived so did a cool change !! The day I arrived it was 32 and very humid so a/c would have been nice.
I advised the front desk who said just let it run for a while and it might kick in, as it can take up to 10 to 15 mins to work......it didn't at all.

Room Tip: Ground floor may be convenient but can be noisy with hotel cars coming and going
