“Significant for different reasons”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

Firstly, it is a sign of respect for the soldiers who have fought and died in the wars. As with many country towns, a war memorial is a significant part of the town but in Albury's case, it sits on top of a wonderful hill with views in every direction - absolutely amazing.
But I was stunned when on visiting the town of my school years to see how far the town has expanded particulalrly out west.
Albury has certainly grown.

“Tourists should not not miss the views”
Reviewed June 22, 2012

All war memorials are sacred monuments and worthy of our respect. That said no first visit to Albury should miss the scenic views from Monument Hill. You get a fantastic perspective of the entire Albury-Wodonga region. Look along the length of the main street (Dean St) and then beyond to the next hill - Eastern Hill or East View. Find your way up to there. You won't be disappointed, especially for a sunrise - you will need the camera!

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

It is humbling and sad to read the little plaques around the monument with names of soldiers, some who were only teenagers, who gave their life serving their country. It's a lovely Memorial.

Besides the serious nature of the monument, it is also located on top of a hill with lovely views of Albury.

You can also walk to the Monument Hill War Memorial from the Albury Botanic gardens which are located further down the hill. It's a lovely walk and good exercise.
