“Great Place”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

We booked a table for 8 on a Friday night, we had already decided to stay the night when we saw the rooms......they were ALL lovely, very roomy and spotlessly clean.
The meal was way about pub standard and the staff were fantastic.....nothing was to much trouble. The breakfast to did not disappoint. All 8 in our party said we would (and are going to)stay there again.
Check it out !

We had a lovely stay at the White Horse, staying for two nights as we were in the area for a wedding. I wish we'd read a few more reviews as we were also kept waiting well over an hour on arrival. A note stated 'gone to bank, back at 4.30' - we'd arrived (by taxi) at 4 - we finally got in just after 5. So...after a shaky start, fortunately things quickly improved. The room was warm (very) and comfortable. We ate a lovely meal in the bar/restaurant and the service from Karen (?) was delightful. Breakfast was good - good quality and served quickly. The location is beautiful and our overall impression was favourable. The arrival thing does need attention though - we were on the verge of going elsewhere and it seems this wasn't an isolated incident. I would encourage people to establish an arrival time - and hope that you can get in!

I sateyed in a double room with en suite bathroom and breakfast for £65 per night.
Pros:
-Lovely owners/staff, mature and helpful.
-Super comfy bed with feather pillow and duvet
-TV
-Lights by bed on both sides
-Complimentary bottle water and glass per person (plus coffee mashine)
-Large room and ensuite bathroom, lots of storage space for clothes etc
-Full length mirror, and wall socket for hair dryer/streigteners next to it
-Beautiful remote location,
-Perfect cooked breakfast, tea, orange juice, cerial also available
-Lovely downstairs dining area, really nice quality furniture
-Parking for about 8 or so cars, but as people eat out here I wouldn't count on a free parking space (you could probably phone ahead and reserve one)

Cons:
-They only had a shower head attachment to a bath so no power shower, and no shower glass door/shower curtain or holder for shower head, so pretty tricky to wash long hair.
-The room I was in was not very sound proof and I was woken up by late pub leavers, but quickly fell back to sleep due to snuggly bed :)
-Beware of false GPS signal when your driving there and some wrong google map location's of the inn – the actual location is:
The White Horse Inn, 1 The Street , Sutton, Petworth, West Sussex, RH20 1PS (this should give you the exact location on google maps)
and the website is:

This was a lovely place to stay. The food was definitely a cut above ordinary bar food - imaginative menu, lots of choice for all tastes, and beautifully prepared. Good-sized portions too, for hungry walkers and cyclists. Upstairs, the rooms had a touch of luxury - down duvet, for example.
I loved the way the pub was decorated - polished wood, cream paint, olive green curtains gave it a cosy & restful feel.

We live few towns away and we've never ventured into Sutton, always sticking to our easy walking distance pubs which are in most cases fully booked. So we decided to try this pub that we've heard about and I must say they were really friendly and very accommodating. The starter, main and dessert menu had a good few options. We all went for the Sunday roast (beef & lamb) and it was very good. There were a few other tables booked, although the pub was not packed , it was enough to create a good atmosphere. We will definitely go there again.

We were very impressed with our lunchtime visit to the White Horse. An impromptu visit to Sutton turned out to be a total joy. The staff at the White Horse were very welcoming. They were, despite being very busy, attentive, friendly and worked hard to ensure we were well cared for. The service was swift and professional. The food was excellent. The quality was superb with good portion sizes and presentation. The choice of meals available was broad and a range of "specials" we're available too. Thank you to you all.

Stayed for one night for a cousin-in-law's nearby wedding and was very well looked after. We had a very rushed arrival due to running late for the wedding but they were patient and speedy with us which was much appreciated. The room was well decorated and clean and the breakfast was pretty tasty. As far as negatives go it was a shame that we didn't have a toilet in our bathroom but we had use of a private one that was next door and very clean. The shower didn't have a lot of power. Other than that I can't fault it for a brief over night stay.
