I had an awesome 3 night's at Bazil's with my school basketball team. There were at least 20 of us there and still plenty of room to hang out in and not be cramped. I absolutely loved the hammocks in the backyard, the close proximity to town and fire and video choice in the lounge room. Although a few of the bunks felt a bit dodgy the overall decor of the rooms and practicability was great. I loved the wooden tables and benches in the kitchen although we did tend to run out of cutlery on occasion. Would be nice to have a freezer and completely working ovens in the main house. Overall I would definitely recommend Bazil's to anyone and everyone. :)

We enjoyed our 2 night stay here. The vibe of the place is fantastic. There are plenty of hammocks and nice backyard to hang out in. The kitchen is clean and well stocked. The bathrooms were clean enough but could use a little dusting in the corners. We enjoyed the generous hospitality from the staff. We used bikes from the hostel which were in great condition. They provide helmets as well. We didn't try surfing but wished that we did. It is in a GREAT location and we strongly recommend tasting out the beer at the brewery around the corner. We didn't find it too loud even though there was a tour bus staying on site. There is so much to do in Westport and we would highly recommend going and staying at Bazil's. We only stayed for two nights but could have stayed longer. We went on a caving tour at a nearby town and also biked out to some secluded beaches. There are plenty of biking and hiking trails and the weather was fantastic even though we were there in the Winter. We stayed in a private room and it was decent. Nothing to complain about and expectations of a basic room were met. The communal showers and washrooms were fine and never had to wait to use them. We would stay here again!

Loved this place - quirky decor, really nice outdoor area with hammocks, well equipped kitchen and really good communal area with wood burner fire. Heaps of vids for the eve and bean bags.

Also offer surf lessons for about $70 for 2 hours which was well worth it! Hot choc and good equipment and instructing, defs worth getting out of bed for.

Only regret - not staying here longer.

Pretty good hostel, quite hippy! Nice man on reception. Not enough communal toilets and showers, these weren't so nice but it was fine. Quite a big kitchen with lots of pans ect. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm which was quite spacious.

Stayed at Bazil's in mid July and couldn't fault our 2 nights there! We arrived late on our first night in our camper and as soon as we got there, we were greeted with a smile and were shown where to park up and were plugged in and shown about straight away. We felt comfortable, safe and had a great nights sleep! The following morning we were given advice from the two handsome young blokes that were running it, on where to go and what to do in the area - great advice, so much to see and do in Westport, it's a beautiful slice of west coast paradise! The hostel itself is very clean, conveniently located and has its own funky kiwi style - we absolutely loved staying there.

Looking forward to going back to stay there one day - one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at!

Would without hesitation recommend this hostel for anyone and everyone :)

Thank you Bazil's

Louise C Xx
