We had to stay here because we hadn't booked a hotel and there was nowhere else. It looks like it was built in the 70s and hasn't been updated since - but the bed was comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The duvet cover was very faded and the furnishings damaged. The bathroom was in a very poor state but everything worked ok. It is shocking that this place can get away with charging $20 per night more than a really lovely motel just because of it's position. My recommendation would be to book a quadruple room and just go in expecting the worst - then you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: No such thing I'm afraid. Quadruple room probably the safest choice.

We stayed in a double room. This lodge is in need of TLC. The outside lights have not been cleaned in years and are full of webs, the gardens need weeding and tyding up. Inside is comfortable but could do with a revamp. Bed linen is old and needs to be replaced. No cell phone connectivity or WiFi. Must have been a great resort in its hey day.

Thank you for your feedback.
We are pleased to let you know that since purchasing Fiordland National Park Lodge we have been working hard to make improvements, many of which were brought up in your review.
There is now WiFi available throughout the Lodge and Backpackers (1GB free per night). We are working on extending this to the Motel rooms. We are updating the rooms and have begun tidying the outside spaces.

The title says it all. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!. Wifi is n't working, only if you sit near the reception. We took a shower in a bathroom that riekt of urine. The beds were sagging, in short a terrible place. Thank God we only stayed here for one night. Rest asured, iff we visit Te Anau again, we will never again visit this place. A bloody shame!

Room Tip: do not go!

Fiordland National Park Lodge motel is a quiet place but with good facilities for a hotel in such an area. The shared kitchen could have done with being slightly bigger, but the rooms were of a good quality and the furnishings where good. Laundry facilities are good and the wading powder is free.
The TV didn't have a remote and was of an old style, but it wasn't really a worry as I don't imagine many people would book into this motel to watch TV.
The views were great, and it was easy to find on the Milford road.

After reading mixed reviews , I was very pleasantly surprised by our stay. The motel room was very clean, and had everything we needed, bathroom vg, bed and pillows very comfortable, kitchen good enough to cook a lovely roast pork dinner and sit with glass of wine looking at the sunset on mountains. My husband got coverage on phone by just walking a few meters from the room, the only slight annoyance was paying for the wifi ( only $6 ) and the lodge router not working properley, but if you just go expecting not to have wifi its a small price to pay for being in such a lovely place. We had a motel room, so this is what I would recommend. Unlike so many places in New Zealand this motel had screens on their windows so for this alone I would give it 10/10 !

Room Tip: Choose a motel room, well worth bit extra money and you dont have to share a kitchen
