My partner and I stayed there for two nights in March 2013 and we truely enjoyed our stay. The host Ray is just a fantastic guy that made us feel at home within a few minutes. It's a quiet and excellently located B&B... 5 min walk into town and to Lake Te Anau. It's also an ideal spot to do tours to Milford Sound etc. The rooms are clean and spacy and breakfast is delicous!!

We were given a great kiwi welcome by Ray. A very friendly and relaxed place to stay. The rooms (Romeo and Juliet and Much ado about Nothing were spacious, clean and well presented.
The b & b is located a short walk from town and very close to the beautiful lake.
Excellent cooked breakfast with a very personal touch. Thanks Ray!
I wouldn't hesitate to use this b & b again if I were in the area.

My daughter and I had a very nice visit here. Met by owner and instantly felt very, very welcome. He had all sorts of good advice about dining options and hiking trips for the following day. The room was very comfortable and clean. Had a very early breakfast which owner got up especially early to serve us. He even made a couple of simple bacon sandwiches for our hike that day. We wished we had spent much more time in Te Anau so that we could have stayed longer at this B&B.
Overall a great find!

Room Tip: All rooms were excellent

Great place to stay. We were given the choice of the "Romeo and Juliet" room or the "Henry V" room (both very substantial rooms). We chose the Henry V room because I remembered one of the speeches from school and was prepared to quote it at breakfast if necessary. Great breakfasts served with a lovely touch of NZ humour and a huge amount of local area information.

The Shakespeare House in a very nice place to stay in Te Anau. It is more a Motel with Breakfast than a Bed and Breakfast. This is not a bad thing, we liked our stay there very much, the service was very personal but the look of the place reminded us of a motel.

It is very well located, nothing is very far in Te Anau, you are a ten minutes walk from anywere in the town.

A very nice place were we would stay again.

We booked this B&B directly on the net finding the response very friendly and helpful not to mention the much celebrated breakfast .

Reasons for booking

- rates for a central property with breakfast were better than comparable motels / hotels without brakfast
- very helpful and cooperative host [ Ray Napier ] who had to adjust the dates many times due to problems with the Shark dive company at Bluff . He did it very sportingly .
- a very spacious triple room ensuite with the car parking just next to the room
- common fridge in the lobby
- highly recommended cooked brakfast
- easy walking to the boat jetty , both the supermarkets , Fjordland cinema , I site and shops .

Reasons for strong recommendation

- all of the above
- Ray providing packed sandwiches as we had to start at 0500 hrs for the drive to Fox Glacier
- free and unrestricted use of the kitchen
- beautiful flowers and interior design
- free wifi [ limited ]
- very comfortable stay , very cheerful host always willing to pitch in with tips and advice

Very fortunate to have stayed in such a nice room. It was very comfortable, had nice furnishings and bedding. Good value for money. Great choice for breakfast. Free WI FI. The garden is full of roses. The place is in a good location for visiting the nearby lake and of course Milford Sound.
Margaret was particularly helpful and was taking care of the management during my stay.
