We were having a trip around the South Island in a campervan - planning on heading to Milford Sound. Sadly a band of pretty rotten weather cam in and with the road to Milford Souns closed, we stayed the night at this campsite. Despite the weather and the fact that the place was pretty quiet, the service was great - staff really friendly - facilities immaculately clean and everything and more you could possibly want or need in a campsite (We even borrowed a couple of DVDs from reception). Really handy for everything too. Thanks folks - we'll come again - hopefully the road to Milford sound will be open this time!

We rented a tourist cabin which was really warm when we arrived (it was a cold day) it was mostly clean and it was serviced daily. It was an easy walk to town along the beautiful foreshore. The down side was the bathroom was a bit grotty, actually a lot grotty! The other downside was that we had paid on the way in, we were in te anau for a family wedding. When we left we dropped the key in the slot, got back to the weddings day after function only to be told that the holiday park had asked other wedding guests (who we had only just met) why we hadnt paid. This was really embarrassing. They had our contact details and could have contacted us but chose to talk to others instead. Not good! Ive marked down the review on this basis, otherwise it would have sat at a 4!

Simple and small single room with good shared facilities. Good location. Has heater for chilly nights. Wifi available with prepaid cards. Reception was cheerful and efficient. Also offers some tours booking.

We stayed here while touring with a campervan mainly because we had booked a trip to Doubtful Sound that departed from here. It turns out we booked the campsite with the one of the best views of our whole trip.
We love campsites in New Zealand. All the sites we tried were superbly well kept and they all have a "shelter" - which actually means a large hut with kitchen facilities so you can cook, eat, wash up and generally socialise with the other campers.
Lakeview is definitely one of the best!

My friend and I booked a basic cabin with no ensuite during our 2 night stay, however we were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to an ensuite room at the front because it was so quiet and they wanted us to have better views. The best reception staff we came across during our visit to NZ, nothing was ever any trouble, apologising for the weather (which of course they had no control over) and offering numerous suggestions as to how to spend our time! We loved every second of our time in Te Anau and the Lakeview Holiday Park.
