Owner description: Visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves - an underground network of limestone caves lit by hundreds of glowworms. In the darkness they produce a glittering display. Carved out by the force of the river, the underground world is surprisingly beautiful with whirlpools and roaring waterfalls. Begin with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau and then our nature guides will take you in groups through the caves and then in a small boat into the grotto. Departs Te Anau.

I loved visiting these caves although the amount of glow worms was disappointing. Not a trip to do if you are even slightly claustrophobic.

The glow worm caves were amazing. We were the final group allowed in on the day we visited because of rising waters following 2 days of solid rain. The experience was one we had been looking forward to since we had seen on television prior to going to New Zealand. It did not disappoint. We would recommend this as a unique experience for travellers in the area. Our only disappointment was that when we were travelling to the caves there was so much rain we couldn't see the scenery on the way there but if the waters hadn't been as high in the caves the experience wouldn't have been as dramatic as it was. Spectacular!

Sorry, but this trip was not worth its money. We saw just a few glowworms and to pay so much to visit a cave ?

The glowworms cave rafting tour was a good experience.
Exploring the caves and it's formations, then floating in absolute silence under a star lit sky and popping out in the rainforest.

We took a trip to the glowworm caves early this year after a trip to Milford sound in the morning. We decided to give the visiting grandparents a chance to go one wk ago. I was initially worried that they wouldn't be able to do the walking and bending inside but they came out very very happy! The cave trip was a new experience for them having lived in California for several years now. They haven't stopped talking about it...
