Lovely views from large windows and balcony across lake, room was well equipped but fixtures a bit dated, however we found it warm and comfortable. Wifi was free. Short walk into town for bars and restaurants. Would recommend for short trip to fjordland

This was the second motel we looked at in Te Anau. We chose the Fiordland Lakeview because the room was so much nicer (king bed, separate sitting room overlooking the lake, free wi-fi) and it was $20 less. Great location on the lake close to everything. Good base for visiting Milford Sound.

Stayed here for one night during a 4 week road trip. The entrance to our upstairs room from the car park did not fill me with confidence but once inside we found a well equipped if slightly tired room with a balcony overlooking Lake Te Anau & surrounding mountains. Would definitely stay again if only for the view.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in a one bedroom apartment on the second floor. The apartment was very spacious and included a separate toilet, well equipped kitchen and balcony area. The decor was very out-dated, and although I requested a refurbished room (after reading the reviews on here), it is obvious our room wasn't - and there were only two other rooms occupied as far as we could see. The free laundry facilities were fantastic and the owner was very helpful in booking our tour to Milford Sound and suggested the best eateries in town. Also, it did state in the compendium that our room wouldn't be serviced but arriving back from our tour, all the toiletries etc had been replaced with new ones. We enjoyed our stay here and would consider staying again, if the rooms are updated in the future.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon while we were visiting Milford sound , this place is good with the best lake views from the rooms . i must say the owner Grant Taylor is a cool nice man with great suggestions . he advised on trips and tramps which was fabulous . i visited this place on 16 & 17 AUGUST , The rooms on the top floor have lovely views of the lake , a luggage lift that was really great , as i didn't need to carry our bags on top . wow just loved it.. a laundry self service is available . nice LCD tv with sky channels and a clean modern kitchenette to cook your meals . heated electric blankets . i would highly recommend this place as it's value for money .

Room Tip: do take the trips and tramps coach service for milford

Me and my friends stayed in an apartment here for 2 nights in August 2012. We used the apartment as our base whilst we explored the Milford sound. We were very impressed with the apartment overall and it was probably the best place we have stayed during our months stay in New Zealand. The apartment looks as though it has been recently renovated as everything is state I the art and brand spanking new. The lounge area has comfortable and plush reclinable leather sofas and a nice big 42 inch LCD. There are also great views of the lake from the lounge and master bedroom which are set out in an open plan format.
The kitchen was spacious and well equips with state of the art hob and dishwasher. The quality of everything in the kitchen (pots, pans, plates and cutlery) were first class and added to the luxurious feel of the place.
The bedrooms were very good too. The master bedroom was a tad strange in the way that it didn't have a door and therefore no privacy as people sitting in the lounge could see right into it. But apart from that they were great, the beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well when we stayed here.
The bathroom was good too. There was a nice powerful shower and a fine jacuzzi tub.
Overall a fine apartment renovated to an extremely high standard. Over my 4 weeks in New Zealand, we have stayed in apartments throughout and only one other (Ramada -Paihai) has come near this level. We paid $260 which was a very good price and I would recommend Fiordland lake view motel to anyone looking for an excellent apartment in the Te Anau area.

We stayed here in the 3 bedroom house which is not on the website but which the owner informed us of when we queried if 4 adults and two kids would fit in their 2 bedroom units. The house is to the left on the main building as you look from the street. It has been recently renovated and we booked it sight unseen as the owner said that they had no pictures and it is not on their website.
The place had amazing views from the front verandah. We stayed for 2 nights. It was nicely refurbished and equipped. Beds were fine with electric blankets which we needed as it was cold. It could have done with an extra heat pump as there was only one that did the whole house. There were smaller electric heaters in the bedrooms but they aren't good with small kids around who can burn themselves. The living area was huge as was the kitchen. Overall a really great size.
It is refurbished but not as beautifully as the 2 bedroom ones on the website with some of the decor being a little old fashioned. But very, very clean and lovely touches like new Zealand shampoos and conditioners, soaps and body wash. One thing I did find was a problem was the lack of powerpoint in the bathroom whiuch meant I couldn't dry my hair in there.
Easy walk to town and the owner was very helpful with tour bookings etc.
Would recommend if you are looking for a bit bigger place to fit in a larger group.
