“Fiordland from the sky”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

We had these guys pick us up from our cruise boat on Doubtful sound and fly us back to Te Anau and it was a breathtakingly beautiful morning, with a clear blue sky and a panorama that went on for ever

“Brilliant experience - never thought we'd do it”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

Wow what an excellent trip we had - it was a spur of the moment thing and not something we ever thought we'd do seeing as my husband doesn't like heights and I'm not keen on small planes !! We popped in to see what the costs would be and what options were available - the only disappointment there was that there was a 10 minute ride or a 20 minute ride but the next one up was an hour and as we had never experienced flying in a small plane before we were not sure that we would like it enough to be up there an hour - a 30 or 40 minute flight would have been great as it happens but next time who knows maybe we will take a longer flight.
Loved the fact that we could just roll on up and within minutes were able to be up in the air with Alan who must see the same things every time he goes up but was always entertaining and putting us at our ease - not that there was much need for that as we were enjoying ourselves so much and were feeling remarkable relaxed.
Cannot recommend it enough to see things that you would not normally get the chance to.

“The highlight of our trip”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

My husband and I have visited NZ before so this time we travelled the south of the south island which included a trip to Te Anau. On the spur of the moment we took the sea plane flight over Doubtful Sound and were so please we did. The trip lasts 40 mins and the views over the fiords and alpine lakes were magnificent and, of course, gave us a totally different perspective. Just taking off from and landing on the lake were experiences in themselves. The pilot's commentary and knowledge about the area was superb. It is a bit expensive but we were so pleased we took the journey as the next day we went by coach/boat to Milford Sound which was completely under cloud and mist so much so that we really couldn't see much of the fiords. Our suggestion is if you can afford it, don't miss it!

“An experienced not to be missed in Te Anau”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We were staying at the Distinction Te Anau hotel, and observed the small floater plane stationed on the lake right across the road. We gave it a try and had a fabulous time. We did the Doubtful Sound ride. Views were amazing, the pilot super friendly and very knowledgeable of the region. It lasted 40min and this is a good duration. Of course it is a little expensive, but in my opinion well worth the money. We could not include a Doubtful Sound boat ride in our tight program and felt that this was a nice way to see some of it. But crossing the Southern Alps and seeing some altitude lakes ended up being to me the most fun part of the journey.

This was one of the best things we did in NZ. It was a 45 minute trip around most of fjordland. The pilot probably does this several times a day but not once did he sound bored. You have to wear a headset so you can hear his commentary. The nice thing about plane/boats is that they can land anywhere there is flat water and mid-way through we landed on dusky sound and turned off the engines. Within minutes we were surrounded by about 100 dolphins all wanting to play. I would have paid a fortune then to have had a wet suit and been able to jump in with them. We did the swimming with dolphins in Queen Charlotte Sound, and this was better than that, as the dolphins were so playful and were a joy to watch.

It's pretty expensive to take this trip, but worth every penny.
