“Outstanding Lodge and so much to do!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013 via mobile

Our first stay at Fiordland Lodge was for 2 nights in November 2013 and we enjoyed it so much we are planning to go back in the summer. The lodge is spacious , warm and comfortable with magnificent views over Lake Te Anau and the mountain ranges in Fiordland National Park. Andy and his team were discreetly attentive. He organised a helicopter trip to Dusky Sound and Doubtful Sound for us. The Southern Lakes Squirrel landed on the lawn and off we flew for an hour and a half on a spectacular scenic flight. Dining at Fiordland Lodge was a treat with yummy breakfasts and delicious canapes in the evening, followed by a different menu each night for dinner. There are so many activities to choose from here with the mountains and the sounds close by. There is kayaking, walking, boat rides, helicopter rides, fishing and much more. Stay here, you will not be disappointed !

One of the loveliest lodges in NZ! What i love about this place is that it is more 'real' than most other lodges, it feels like you are in a friends home! (A friend with great taste and a great budget ;)!) We are locals and pop down to hide away here once in awhile and its just delicious. A quiet library area upstairs with 'that' view. You can choose between staying at the lodge or get tucked in to a magic log cabin. The food is fabulous too, just the perfect size portions so you can actually eat there every night, you don't feel like you need to get rolled out on a trolley after 7 courses. So much stunning scenery to explore in this area, just the drive back to QT form Kingston is mind-blowing! Highly recommend staying at the Fiordland Lodge!

Room Tip: Lodge rooms over look the lake and have mind-blowing views. Cabins sleep a family, and a snuggly an...

We are touched to learn how you enjoyed your recent stay with us and that we were able to tick so many boxes - thank you for your kind review!

I am so glad to hear you thoroughly enjoyed the lodge itself, our location and cuisine. Your comments regarding the food are most appreciated and I will be sharing these with Rodrigo and his kitchen team. Our most valuable asset is our staff and we could not accomplish what we are able to without their talents and personalities.

One of our goals are to always make our guests feel as if they have arrived home. We are a New Zealand Lodge owned and operated and can't wait to welcome you back.

We loved our stay at the lodge. We stayed there two nights (early September) and everything about the lodge was great. The view from the lodge and our room was beautiful overlooking the Lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful - especially organising our trip to Doubtful Sound when Milford Sound was closed. The restaurant menu was excellent - compliments to the chef. This is honestly the best place I have stayed in. I would highly recommend and would love to visit again if I get back to NZ.

Where do I start?
Well I booked this hotel by seeing a few pictures on internet and what a beautiful place!
We were upgraded to a Suite when we arrived because we were the only guest (the season just started). To be honest, this is one of the best stay in a hotel in my life and I have been traveling quite a lot around the world, from the US to Asia through Europe and Oceania.
This lodge is on a small hill in front of the Lake Te Anau with an amazing view on the mountains/Fiords.
I already miss the surroundings and the dark sky.
It is 2 hours away from Milford Sound with one of the most amazing drive in the world (waterfalls, Homer tunnel, fiords).
The room (Suite) was lovely with a fire place, huge windows, spa bathroom, nice smell and everything you can desire.
The fire place in the dining/leaving room is probably the biggest I've ever seen and there is a Chief to cook dinner and breakfast, just awesome. We had the privilege to have a table in front of the fire place with a very nice Pinot Noir (Black Dog).
I eventually proposed my girlfriend outside this lodge as I felt it was the perfect moment to do it (was hesitating a few times during our two weeks holiday in New Zealand).
Monique and then Andy were just AWESOME, we enjoyed every moment of our stay.
Will definitely come back, worth it 1000 times! If you hesitate, just don't and go for it, you won't regret it!!!
Thumbs up: 10/10

Thank you Sebastien for the amazing feedback and sharing your insights with our travel community. We were delighted that you found Fiordland Lodge the ideal location to propose to your fiancee and we wish you all the very best for your future together.

You have highlighted many elements of our product that we strive so hard to deliver. Our unique service culture aims to deliver casual sophistication in a relaxed yet professional New Zealand way which we think sets us apart from the world of hotel chains. Our Chef Rodrigo Rost will be delighted with your praise - he has been part of the Fiordland Lodge team for many years.

Honeymoon couples make up a core part of our buisiness so we hope we may see you back at some stage!!...once again congratulations.

We recently stayed here for 2 nights on our 3 week honeymoon trip around NZ. From the moment you walk in the door until the moment you leave, there is such a high level of personblel service towards you as there guest. We really felt like we were guests in someone home and not just a hotel/lodge.The view from the loungs area is amazing, the rooms are fantastic (and we thoroughly recommend the executive suite) and the food is to die for!! Sometimes places like this can seem pretentious- but not here!Thank you to Monique for always mixing it up with us and never making it boring. We had a fantastic time and it will always be a place for us to remember on our honeymoon. Pity we couldnt stay longer. we will be back!!

Excellent and attentive staff helped organize our entire stay. We emailed back and forth before my arrival and arranged for helicopter tours, day excursions to Milford Sound and Guide coach and boat tours through Doubtful Sound. The rooms, particularly on the 2nd floor offered splendid views. They are not luxurious...more of a lodge-like and plain rather than sumptuous. So don't expect that. The other amenities will more than make up for that. The adjacent restaurant was AMAZINGLY good and you could watch the sun set over the mountains every night at dinner (at least during the summer months). It's a fantastic location and I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Room Tip: Ask for 2nd floor is possible. Great views!!! I love taking photographs...and this was definitely...

We stayed at the Fiordland Lodge in September 2009 on our honeymoon. We had specially opted to take this stopover for one night en route to Milford Sound.

Really glad we stayed here, the rooms were very comfortable, views were spectacular to say the least. The staff was very friendly and the food was brilliant. I totally recommend staying at Fiordland Lodge for one night at least.
