the owners are very friendly and helpful.......the rooms are really unique, spacious and seperated from the mainhouse with the kitchen. you have to walk a bit every day up the hill to prepare your food, but the views make it worth it. every room comes ensuite which is pretty handy as well. the views amazing!!!! would have stayed longer....go there in wintertime!!!!

I really liked the big communal area in the farmhouse, with roaring fires and a pool table upstairs. The cabins are a bit basic but they were really clean and comfortable enough for the price.

One annoying thing is the lack of signs as you're driving in. There are three possible tracks and actually any of them are fine (one leads to the cabins and and two to the main farmhouse) but you don't know this when you first arrive.

The lack of proper internet was also a real pain.

We had a good night sleep here in the countryside. If you're in search of the place. When you reach the point of "we'd better turn back" the backpackers is just around the next corner. The one problem I have is that they priced us differently to our room mates. None of us BBH cardholders, we were charged $28 and they were charged $25. It's a nice place, pretty to look at but the main kitchen is too far from the chalet accommodation. All the tvs are broken (another problem) so that takes from their advertisment too.

We appreciate all feed back. It appears that other guests in your room, for one reason or another, had been given a discounted rate. Always come and see us if there is a discrepancy in the rate you had expected to be charged,
TVs in all rooms were replaced with flatscreen TVs in 2014 and all have multiple channels.
Also all rooms were soundproofed.
Many people like the quiet of the rooms achieved by the distance from the hustle and bustle of the main barn, of course, it doesn't suit every guest

Stayed in a double ensuite. Great views. Simple clean room. An easy walk to main house has great kitchen facilities and a nice lounge and eating area. A few minutes drive into Te Anau, not a bad location id ypu have a car. This place just got it right. would def stay here again.

this was probably the place where we met the most fun and interesting people while we were in new zealand. this place seems to attract friendly and social types of all ages. it is basically on an old farm with herds of sheep and deer just steps away. the views are amazing. about a 5 minute drive from te anau (if you've been to te anau, you would know that nobody really wants to stay in te anau, it was much better to be out of town).

Everything about this place seemed ok until we settled into our room and noticed rat feces everywhere on the carpet. We immediately packed up out things and went to the reception to be refunded. Reception didn't even apologize for the situation. They simply offered us a different room. Ya right... We took our refund and saught refuse, I mean refuge, elsewhere.

stayed in triple ensuite room. views were stunning, do agree with previous reviews place could do with a bit of updating decor felt tired. no proper internet. good sized kitchen with lots of equipment, has plenty of seating. the communal area is up the hill above the accommodation. rooms are fairly cold but ok for a few nights. good location between manapouri and te anau good for driving to milford sound or for getting picked up for a doubtful sound trip. no option to pay by card so be warned!
